New Darkthrone might actually be their best one since I don't even know when. It rips.

You should! After hearing the first track they put out I while ago I thought it was gonna be on the doom side, instead it has some really good thrashy riffs, with the usual DT production. Drums sounds are perfect though.
I must say i'm just partially aware of Amorphis. Never listened to them unless in occasional playlist and such.

They've been trending this way over the last three or four records. It does rip, indeed.Dowi wrote:New Darkthrone might actually be their best one since I don't even know when. It rips.

not much, really. Brix Smith should have a solo album out this year that was recorded with Youth last year. other than that, the records i'm anticipating--Slowdive, Ride, Swervedriver--won't drop until next year when they can actually tour the new record.

Indeed! During the past week I caught up with a couple of the latest ones that previously went under my radar and I agree with you.D.o.S. wrote:They've been trending this way over the last three or four records. New Helloween is album of the year for me, I don't think anything will top it. Amazing new studio album with the full reunion lineup including all 3 singers.

The intro is 100% pure South of Heaven, I love it. This band is still dangerous believe it or not. There are a couple of fillerish tracks, but they are singy hit single type of things like helloween has always done. The good stuff is really good, and it's probably their best album since Better Than Raw. There are some cheesy self referencing lyrics and artwork, but I can excuse a little bit of old timer fauxpas here for such a strong release. I love that they self-titled the album, that is so fitting after everything and everyone they've been through.
Uli Kusch was my favorite drummer for the band, but at least his leaving led to a Helloween album with Mikkey Dee (Rabbit Don't Come Easy - 2003). How's that for a buried gemstone.
I was jazzed enough about this landmark return to form to order my very first Helloween shirt, from their official merch store. I got this one, because Judge Dredd:

It's from the cover of the Future World single, 1987...which came out right after Among the Living/I Am The Law. Useless metal/comics trivia.
...then I saw the leggings, which are just too hilarious not to post:

I can’t find an image but I recall metal band “Shitfucker” made women’s leggings at one point.coldbrightsunlight wrote:those leggings are a bold fashion choice
I’d be hard pressed to imagine anyone actually listening to their terrible music let alone wearing leggings advertising them but what do I know about what’s cool anymore?

I remember seeing Agnostic Front circa 2002-ish and Roger Miret offered my girlfriend and her friend each a complimentary pair of AF panties. Maybe it was Vinnie Stigma? I can’t remember….
That show was…. okay

Ufomammut do some leggings via their Malleus shop. They're pretty rad.
