What albums are you looking forward to 2021?

Post by goroth »

Anyone hype on anything getting released this year?

It's been a hot minute since Meshuggah did anything. I have hopes that maybe late this year something will arrive?

new EHG sounds good from the singles so far. New Cult of Luna? I'd say new Asphyx but that is out now (and is good)?
good deals are here.
flesh couch is here.

OH yeah, I forgot that they're releasing a full album!

What did you think of the single?
I wouldn't say I was underwhelmed, but coming off Vertikal - Mariner - A Dawn to Fear - where each release blew me away and made me think "they can't top this, why am I even playing music?" I didn't really get that reaction from the single. But I'm not much of a singles person anyway.

I'm really excited about what I'm gonna put out myself, and I'm super excited about anything my friends are putting out. That's it. I don't pay much attention to anything beyond where I live. There are a few bands I'm really excited about whenever there's new stuff though. Mainly Godspeed You! Black Emperor, MONO, The Innocence Mission, and Carly Rae Jepsen. So I'll be on the lookout for those.

Honestly since the new trend is to follow the Beyoncé model and drop records out of nowhere, I guess not much? EHG doesn’t sound very good, Bongzilla I don’t have high hopes for....

Basically I know there’s Incapacitants reissues and hopefully some new Merzbow reissues but usually I already have those on CD and the reissues just look cool. There’s a lot of noise artists I’d be down to hear new stuff from.

Oh and that Black Sabbath super deluxe Vol. 4 set is going to be hella sick

Not a singles person either, but I like the song. Heavy and hopeful.
