Old news:

Here's a nice short clip:

http://www.instagram.com/p/CgKMk5ss3tg/

Sinews a Roland Bee Baa / Buzzaround mashup. I had originally wanted to call it Rome Plows but the font I was wanting to use at the time steered me to calling it something else, so I went with Sinews. In case you don't know, both names are songs off of one of my favorite bands records - Drive Like Jehu's Yank Crime. Sinews stuck as it is actually quit fitting to the way it sounds.

In the Buzzaround circuit, there's a clean 2 germanium transistor boosting stage that slams the 3rd transistor into fuzzy saturation. I know other folks have tried different front ends so I thought I would give the dirty boost stage of the Roland Bee Baa a go and it works fabulously. I thought this was a quick project I could whip out in February but here we are. I have amassed a large sum of tasty germanium transistors over the years from estate sales and pulls from old radios so I have a sorted about 30 absolutely slaying transistors for the project. So building up 13 for this run and then more if people like them.

Controls:

IN - amount of guitar signal going into the circuit
SUS - amount of bee baa boost going into Buzzaround
BAL - the balance control from the Buzzaround
TIMBR - the crude tone control from the Buzzaround
VOL - master volume

Toggle - changes caps sizes on the output of the bee baa boost feeding into the buzzaround. One setting is thick and one is thinner.

Enclosures will be deep etched and then buffed to a shine. Pics of 1st unit:

First version of the board, had made some mistakes on the main board and footswitch board so got them functioning but had to order new boards. Put some sockets in to test the GE transistor and diode pairs.

That looks so good.
I somehow missed Drive Like Jehu. I'm going to give that album a listen now.

Thank you!

DLJ will always be a favorite of mine. The dual guitar interplay is phenomenal. I love their 1st LP, as well. Classics to me!

Damn, knowing it's Drive Like Jehu-inspired makes me want one twice as much! (I guess "inspired" isn't quite the right word, but yknow -- "homage"?)

They were so good weren't they?! I saw them on the Yank Crime tour in Austin. Unfortunately it wasn't loud enough at the venue. I was hoping they would be super LOUD so that was disappointing. Would have loved to see them before yank Crime. Saw their reunion show a few years back which was great.

Quick update on this one. The day job has been extremely slow until very recently and kicking my ass so the project is crawling along now. Still need to etch enclosures and finish up the boards. Hopefully someday in July these will be done!

That records sounds just as fresh as when I had it on tape when it came out. Just so damn good!

I pretty proud of the pedal, it's extremely fun to play for straightforward rocking out for sure!

Is availability for purchase going to be a function of watching this thread or do I need to get my ass on an email list?

Highly interested, beautiful work.
