So...somebody mentioned the tremolessence sounds like a better version of the catalinbread semaphore. Has anyone here a/b'd them (or owned both at some point)? I used to own a vertical semaphore and loved it...but I traded it for a super delay
Also if you happen to have compared it to a gk2 let me know...that's my current trem and I don't plan on selling it, but if I have 2 tremolos I'd prefer they didn't overlap.
i'm planning on replacing my SD Shape Shifter with a Tremolessence. partly because it looks and sounds so godly and fits on a pedalboard, and partly because i feel bad about selling my SDD
Jon, I can't say how the Tremolessence compares to a Semaphore as I've never seen one in person, but I will tell you this... the Tremolessence is awesome, I think it's a downright perfect tremolo pedal barring tap tempo, depending on what you think of tap tempo. And it's a completely original design regardless of what the Catalinbread guys or their fanboys say. Whew, sorry for the venting there.
I've never had an opportunity to play with a Goatkeeper either but I don't think there'd be much overlap between it and a Tremolessence, seems like the Goatkeeper is a totally different tremolo adventure. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Don't feel bad about selling your SDD, nightraven, pedals come and go.. circle of life, man. *smile*
Let me know if you gents have any other Tremolessence questions.
PS - Jon, trading a Semaphore for a Super Delay.. you made out like a bandit!
I've asked around and a few people who have owned both the semaphore and the tremoloessence, and they preferred the tremoloessence. The semaphore was one of my favorite tremolos so I think that speaks volumes.
I've already got tap on the gk2, so that isn't a biggie.
One thing I was wondering about the GK2, Jon, does it do regular old no tap-tempo/no sequencer simple tremolo? Like can you just set up a nice triangle or square wave and set the rate with a knob and do your thing?
They sure seem like neat pedals and I hope to have one one day!

Yes there are plenty of "normal" sounds to be had from the gk2, and anything you can't find on the presets you can save to one of the empty banks. Though there really isn't a "rate knob". The knobs act as multipliers, but if you want slower/faster than that you have to use the tap tempo or an exp. pedal.
Thanks for the info! I find that pedal really interesting... I love the name and that sheep on it, I dig evil animals like goats and sheeps. (That's a sheep on it, right? I feel like that's not a goat but who am I to say.)
Seems like an awesome pedal, hope I get to play with one some time!
Gargh, the tremollescensce seems awesome... But i'm gonna still buy a PN-2.... Because it was one of the first pedals I ever wanted. Maybe I should have two tremolos.....
B-man, the Tremolessence has a minimum rate of .4Hz which means you get through .4 of the full waveform cycle in one second. So on the slowest setting, for example, a triangle wave would take a little over 2 seconds to go from quiet to loud which is really slow. I make it go extra slow because I think fade ins sound awesome going really slow. (triangle setting, shape knob all the way down, rate all the way down.)
Do Tremolessences have 5 or 3 knobs these days? They seem to be very cool....
