Dispatch Master hot input

Post by Whojamfan »

My Dispatch Master reverb section gets a little fizzy when using a guitar with higher gain humbucking pickups. Reducing the volume a little on the guitar fixes this, but is there any other way to adjust the pedal so that when I pick hard clean the reverb doesn't distort? I absolutely love this pedal, and have a White Light overdrive on the way. any options that don't involve me turning down my volume knob? Oddly enough, it doesn't do it when running through distortion when I hit a string hard and stop it quick to hear the trail, just when the guitar is clean and I pick hard or strum chords aggressively.

thanks in advance to any help on this :)

are you running it through an effects loop? I know mine would clip some times so I adjusted the the send return in the loop to not lose volume and decrease the signal into the pedal.

I have this problem running through a 20 foot canare cable through 4 other pedals to the DM. I have Bill Lawrence L90s in my Les Paul Custom that are hot, but very clean. When strumming or picking moderately to aggressively, the reverb has a distortion to it that is kinda like grindy static. When I switch on either of my 2 drives, the problem isn't there, even hitting the string hard and instantly muting it to hear the reverb. My drives are set to a little more ithan unity for the rhythm, and well above that for leads. I'm plugged into a 1975 Hiwatt DR 504 head so it certainly isn't a headroom issue. I have since put the DM in the loop of my lead drive, an Amptweaker Tightrock- so when I kick my lead tone on it comes on in the loop and works great, but now I'm stuck for a reverb/delay effect on my clean tone. I have a White Light Overdrive due any day now to add to my board as I was blown away by one for the lower gain stuff. It would be nice to use the DM after all of my drives so I could use it with any combination of pedals.
Does this help?

Problem solved, swapped out the Bill Lawrence pickups for some old DeArmond Gold Tones I had and all is well now. Forgot how much I really love these pickups. Jamie sent me an email offering to check the pedal out which was great, but I thought I might try the swap first since the BLs were seriously high output.
