Will the Hummingbird get the "One of these days" chop?
How choppy is it? Will it get the choppy middle section of Pink Floyd's "One of these days..." ? I have a Mountainking one off that gets it pretty good but it's huge and I'm looking to downsize a bit to make some room. I've checked most of the vid's but haven't heard what I'm looking for.

I would say that yes, it probably can. I can't quite find what gear they used during that part, but it sounds similar to a Vox Repeater, or a very choppy tremelo

I've read that it was a Binson Echorec and a Leslie , but I'm not sure. It sounds more like a choppy trem.

The Echorec is for the main delay part. The middle section was just them using the trem from an amp (I forget which one). It IS choppy, although not quite a square-wave, there is still some curvey throb to it.

Yeah, its still a little throbby sounding. Maybe you should also look at the CoPilot Polypus. But if you want to do a temp trade with my Hummingbird to give it a try, let me know and we can work something out.

Thanks for the offer. I'm probably just gonna pick on up.

Do it! I've got an Empress trem and the Hummingbird, love both of em. Hummingbird is really it's own beast and a totally worthy addition to any rig.

Just listened to this song - yep, it can do that, no probs. Or at least awfully close. Will see if I can record a demo tonight.

Short demo. Hummingbird: Depth max, rate max (mode 1). Light distortion courtesy of Emma Pisdiyauwot. Excuse the pathetic attempt at recreating One of these days - I couldn't be bothered actually learning how the song goes (sorry dudes) and just played some stuff in a similar style. Ish.
The unijunction transistors in the Hummingbird can vary a fair bit, so the max and min speeds, and where mode 1 and 2 overlap - if at all, vary from unit to unit.

I hope to do a shoot out if/when I get a Polypus on tourbox. It has a switch now so you can control the rate by a knob, if you so desire. If it works out well, I may be tempted to switch them out, but only because I recently found myself needing a sine-wave tremolo. But I'm sure if you choose one or the other, you can't lose.

If you're looking for a versatile pedal that can do more than just a square wave trem, I'd suggest checking out Randy's Revenge as well.

Re: Will the Hummingbird get the "One of these days" chop?
I just got a Hummingbird and it sounds good, but...
I need the "One of These Days" chop, and that falls into a speed that the Hummingbird can't get!!!
The slowest speed on the fast mode is twice as fast as the fastest speed in the slow mode.
That's a huge range of speeds that I can't get...
The speed I need falls right between them, and it's tempo-synced (triplets at 140bpm).
Is there any way to get those in-between speeds?
