i just vacuumed the carpet in most of the trailer so there's not little bits of litter underfoot, and am now sitting by the window waiting for the USPS to deliver my Randy's Revenge which is Out For Delivery according to the tracking. next i need an expression pedal (i.e. a $40 volume pedal with the stereo TRS-to-mono adapter i already have) and i should be able to get just about any sound i want that i could think of. as Doug had predicted, his cats ran for cover as soon as the vacuum fired up, but Lulu was relatively unperturbed and is in the window watching for the post office lady now.

got the RR in the mail, dropped it into the spot i'd saved on the board, and HOLY CRAP but everything sounds beautiful. i still have to put in some time tweaking the Street Sweeper to figure out how to optimize the sweep setting and whether it's in the right place in the chain, but it puts a wicked howling edge on leads. the Tap Gyroscope is a wonderful and heavily underrated pedal which does step-filtering with a looser, more organic-sounding filter than the more complex options on the market. and what can i say about Randy other than that i like the sound of version 1 even better than the current issue? now i need to work on using all this new processing power subtly. it's extremely easy to get all blippy-bloopy and over-busy...earlier this evening i had a loop going on that sounded vaguely like Muse being trash-compacted, and not in an entirely good way. but the main board is more or less complete, after a couple of years of searching, scrounging, and evaluation.

so far my weekend has consisted of dialing in my pedalboard, strategically placed naps, and snuggling my cat who climbs in my lap at the slightest opportunity. which is to say that it's been dee-lightful. though working on the board can be aggravating because i'm really picky about layout, i really like the science/logic involved.
i'm thinking of tearing up my looping board and making it into a post-main-board looping/delay lab by adding a couple of delay/verbs i can patch before or after the loopers or just getting two Dittos and using the Head Rush and Flashback as delays for a change. i'm really irked by the fact that there doesn't seem to be a multiple looper on the market which will cross-fade from one loop to another with an expression pedal, not even the Boomerang or the Pigtronix.

Not too long ago I posted in "The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread" about my roommate being loud and obnoxious and getting in the way of my studies.
Just found out he's dropping out this Friday. Now I get the room to myself for the remainder of the semester!
Lookin forward to the peace and tranquility.

It might be more trouble than it's worth - but you could do that with the 2880 and midi expression control.
