Tomorrow marks 7 weeks since I last drank alcohol - while I rarely ever got drunk, I consistently drank 1-3 beers almost every night. Much like my pedals, I enjoy my beer artisanally crafted, so you can imagine the cost adds up. I've noticed that it's easier to wake up most mornings and I get less tired at night, but honestly there's not much else that feels different. It's good to step back and actually reaffirm that I'm not dependent on substances though.
I'm in a similar boat, and I agree that reaffirmation feels quite good. Healthier sleep is a great benefit, & even if you're not feeling many other differences in your day to day life, it's still highly likely that you're body will have a healthier immune system and be able to function / age better in general without the constant intake of alcohol.

Your mind, though, will suffer greatly.

as a gift to the wife and i a friend brought over a book for baby, some strawberry rhubarb jam and some spicy pepper jam.
the spicy pepper jam is now officially, my jam. i had one piece of cornbread left over from making it earlier in the week and it was heavenly on that. then i had it on toast w/ some butter and that was sexy as all hell, too.
this shit is... damn, damn, damn, damn.

After hitting my car with a sledgehammer and using a breaker bar like I'm rowing a fucking boat for 3 days, I managed to successfully swap out my lower ball joints. What a fucking nightmare.
Like, I'm interested in mechanical work but it fights you EVERY
STEP
OF
THE
WAY.
Jesus Christ.
But I do feel successful. And my car doesn't sound like squeaking metal death going down the road. And I learned stuff, I guess.
And saved like $500.

Having the right tools that make car shit easy is why mechanics charge $100+ an hour down here.
But DIY and getting right is the fucking best.

^That's the dream. Well if you replace the dog with a cat for course. Because cats will puuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Just out of my GPs because weird throat ache that has been here for ten days know. The good part is that I was weighed and we looked up my current weight against my records... And yeah, it's official, I've lost 20 kilograms (that's 44 pounds for those of you who don't have the metric system - thank you Jimmy Carter). 10 to 15 more and I'm gonna be done with it. It's nice to hit a landmark in the upper half of my initial goal.
