I don't know if they're actually any good, but I snagged a BYOC kit. I think they're cool :idk:

My dad gave me a $50 gift certificate to Musicians Friend that he got for his birthday. Unexpected GAS funds!

Finally replaced the ear pads on my Sony MDR V-6s, so begone, flaking pleather! On with the Beyerdynamic EDT 250v velour pads!

So pleather to velour--is that moving forwards or backwards through the 70s?

OK so for the curious...

Basically I wanna write the next album about a serial killer. One I made up. Sounds boring right? Well the serial killers thing is turns his victims into candy once he's done with them. Blood gets carmelized and made into lollipops, body parts get made into gummys and ice creams, brains and bone marrow become gum, that sort of thing.

The whole story would be told from the perspective of the killer recounting the tales of his crimes to his mother, who is in the hospital dying on life support.

Given the subject matter, I'm trying to make this thing sound like the soundtrack to a b movie, something quentin tarantino would be proud to use. Reverb, spy guitars, jazzy trumpets, and then mix that in with the heavier moments that most of my music is known for. So basically, Grindhouse metal.

Whatchyall think? :poke:

the music description made me think of john zorn's spillane album for some reason. Not sure if you're familiar with it. Sounds cool at any rate though.

Never heard of it, I'll check it out.

Edit: like it so far. Sounds like the soundtrack to a crime movie.

Sounds awesome? I don't really have any thoughts other than I want to hear it.

I'd love to hear it, man.

I had a concept like that a while back, but abandoned it because I don't have the follow through to write a concept album still.

I'll try it, I have one song musically written, just have to write lyrics to fit. I was waiting on the ssstampede I ordered to come in, and now that it has I can get that done as soon as I have the free time.

I really do dig righting with concepts in mind, I feel like it helps focus up the material I put out and make it feel more cohesive.

Here's the latest thing Ive done that was concept oriented, its about one mans life or death struggle with mental Illness. I may write a sequel for it someday.

I can't put it on right now, but that's p close to the concept I had. I was going to write out a story about someone who develops a serious schizophrenic disorder that comes to light at a party, and have the entire thing told through his perspective as people change into witches and demons and have the narrative evolve from a regular dude, to a guy suffering a serious breakdown ending in murder and arrest.

Damn thats good. Really good.

Mines this guy being carted off to be lobotomized, and he reverts into his own mind to save himself, which is this crazy steampunk world thing with airships, floating Islands ad monsters. The whole thing is this symbolic journey through the sky to find the island that represents his sanity.

The ending I'm leaving up to the listeners, unless I make a sequel, cause he's dead in that.

I was thinking I'd kill the character off in the end. Maybe start up another project if I ever finished the first one, based on the same character's last few moments being shot on his way to a sentencing, and then his journey through death, all with the mental illness present, but maybe personified or something.

It'd be a fun thing to write if I had a damn band, and it could be a side project type album.
