I have a body blank made up, ready to go for another project once I finish this P bass I'm assembling. I keep going back and forth between doing an Esquire with a set of Hotrails or something similar or maybe doing something with either just a BK Warpig bridge pickup or a pair of P90's.Ancient Astronaught wrote:I hope it will, even though Im sure it will.Corey Y wrote:That sounds goooooood.Ancient Astronaught wrote:That's what I'm thinkin, especially once I put the warpig in the bridge and eventually order a pig90 for the neck.

Maple fretboards? Weird... I'm all about Rosewood and Ebony, maple just looks wrong on any instrument to me... Maybe if it was stained.

I'm also very much in the love maple/love ebony/no rosewood camp. But I think what bugs me about that maple board SG is that the black headstock just sort of visually floats there. But that's just me being nitpicky about unimportant things. It's certainly different, so if that's your bag, take her home and make that bitch sing.

Sunn 1200S rackmount (2x12AX7 preamp, 1200 watts at 2 ohms ss power) are freakin' armageddon. You'll have more problems with blowing out speakers than amp problems.Ancient Astronaught wrote: The 1200s rackmount though I've heard very little to no issues about. I eventually sold my 300t as a project amp to Bear Hampton, apparently he got it up and running pretty quickly while the tech I took it too was mystified.

True about the headstock but that doesn't really bother me. I'm not worried too much about paint and other aesthetics as those things are easily changed if necessary.Jäke wrote:I'm also very much in the love maple/love ebony/no rosewood camp. I've heard that from multiple people so I'm taking it as gospel!grindonomicon wrote:Sunn 1200S rackmount (2x12AX7 preamp, 1200 watts at 2 ohms ss power) are freakin' armageddon. I think it sounds great.
Definitely not blowing minds with anything "new" but it sounds EXACTLY like what I want it to sound like. I think Ballou as producer is great for them. He manages to have the doom sound with a good amount of clarity.

Agreed. Nothing groundbreaking, but it's still an baller record. Carcosa is a seriously awesome track.

I'll probably get it on ebay 3 or 4 years after it's been out like the rest of their albums.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition

You guys... The reason my cab has been sounding so quiet lately is because some of the wires disconnected from the speakers. I have been only running one 32 ohm speaker... Which is a really shitty thing when you've set your amp for 4 ohms. Also shitty when you run 300 watts into one 150 watt speaker. Thankfully nothing was damaged. Spent about 30 minutes tightening up every connection in that cab.
