That design was done by a dude here in the city. Saw it a few weeks ago and was pumped. It makes me want to order one of these even though I don't need it at all.grindonomicon wrote:Did you get this yet, TER? Yeah, I know the feeling. I am not much of a HM-2 guy but I am starting to want this, but right now my board is mostly Abominable Electronics. Hail Satan, Toke Machine, Unholy Grail, Hellmouth ( Incoming)

I don't know what TER means, but I don't have it in my possession yet. He said it could take up to 2 weeks to ship from when I ordered it, plus he's recently been in the hospital because his woman just gave birth.grindonomicon wrote:

TER is the acronym of your forum name.TempusEdaxRerum wrote:I don't know what TER means, but I don't have it in my possession yet. He said it could take up to 2 weeks to ship from when I ordered it, plus he's recently been in the hospital because his woman just gave birth.grindonomicon wrote:

AA is in my town! Odontophobia are you in Durham?
I need some satanic fuzz too. There's gotta be a Toke Machine or Hail Satan in my future. Especially since I just traded my muff. The LED distortion switch with the light-up eyes has got to be one of the coolest gimmicks ever.

Speaking of which: Anyone got a rec for a non-muff fuzz that's gonna sound good right into clean solid state? For better or worse I traded my muff for a Black Forest clone. I'm gonna regret, but I'm looking for something that's more responsive and less....muffy? 3-knob bender? I've got Rats, boosts, etc to use with my Laney but they all sound like ass through clean solid state. Sometimes I like to use all-pedal distortion cuz I can turn it off, plus I like fuzz over tubes a lot of the time.

On my CR120H I set the gain to about 10.5 o'clock, heavy mids, lots of bass, and then I slam it with my black forest using more volume than gain on it, bass almost max, treble around 2 o'clock, depth set to taste

That's not gonna work on an Acoustic 150B. It's gonna have to work well into a clean amp. I'm hoping that the BF will work as fuzz if I goose it with some boost or screamer. Even though the CR120 is SS, it's designed to distort, and it sounds like you're goosing the preamp. I actually like the pedal into clean solid state sound because 80s hardcore.
I also have a Fuzzolo and a Bit that work for lead sounds, but they're not tight enough for palm muting, at least not in settings that cut through in a mix.

You can't crank it?maggot wrote:That's not gonna work on an Acoustic 150B. It's gonna have to work well into a clean amp. Have you tried a fuzz face or a one knob variant? Super fuzz?
I run a lot of pedals into my clean channel, and it stays much cleaner than the acoustic at volume. There hasn't been a pedal I can't get to work. Volume and a high output pedal will get you moving air, add a little bit of fuzz on top of that and you have crushing/grinding sludge. If you use too much pedal distortion it's always going to sound like shit and it's going to flub out.

I disagree that pedal distortion will necessarily make an amp flub out. Compression and EQ from pedals can tighten up your low end as well as it can make it flub out, and there's nothing about amp distortion that necessarily makes it any tighter than pedal distortion.
I've not tried a one knobber. I have played through a Superfuzz, and my recollection is that they always have heaps of fuzz. They sound amazing though. This was an original Univox. I was always trying to get the guy to sell it and he never would. I got to play a couple shows with it, though. Come to think of it, I would have been playing either a HD-130 or a 135-watt Twin at the time, so it's gotta sound good through a clean amp. I didn't care about string definition at the time, though.

I use HM2 by itself, or the Black Forest or Marshall Guvnor Plus pushing a Meathead Dark for grind/power violence guitar into a loud totally clean bass amp. HM2 for ridiculous scoop, the latter for full frequency. Monarch or Meathead Dark I like for grind bass into the same amp. I'll use a Megalith for slow parts, but it's too wooly or loose for fast stuff for my taste.

They're well put together, from what I believe are decent quality parts. The lad who makes them is a pretty great, and he'll tweak and alter anything to suit. Both of mine have taken some heavy useage and are standing strong.goroth wrote:What are the guts like? Nine of Swords makes some totally doom gear. I have the Hand of God and the Burial at Sea. Both totally crush!
And they sound really good. They look badass too. Both are my go-to dirts for doom/sludge
