Re: Let's see your DRUMS!
Got a sweet deal on this guy. 22 (x17.5) x 18 floor x 14 rack. German-made Sonor Delite. Seems like they were owned by some LA studio guy. Creepy indecipherable signature on one of the heads.

One can`t go wrong with good traditionals for indie / rock / blues imo
I almost pulled the trigger on a honey laquer player date with bonzo bd.,
but my Renown got me hooked on Gretsch.

I don`t think the renowns had a modern sound.
What I like about the Gretsch is that the notes decay pretty fast
-that fits my playing

The Player Dates have a nive mellow tone to it, I like it also,
but never had the chance to try one, because you can`t find one
in the music stores over here.
From the videos I think the PD has a nice vintage Ludwig vibe...

maybe it was just the renowns i've played then.. might have been the heads on them too. pretty sure they were evans ec2's or something similar. not a fan
the PD's def have a more mellow vibe w/ softer overtones. i loved how they sounded by themselves, but had to sell em bc they just weren't right for my band in a live setting. i needed something with more attack. they def are in the same neighborhood as 60's luddys

Re: Let's see your DRUMS!
What's your actual set - the white Ludwig?
Had the ec's only as resos for a while... I bet they affected the sound of the shells pretty much.
Hey, my maple craviotto sd is pretty loud with ambassadors - I like the sound,
just want get the volume down a bit. Maybe a powerstroke is the way to go?

try an ambassador x14 for snare batter. its a thicker ply but doesn't choke the drum the way the emperor x and ambassador x does. i've also had good experiences with the controlled sound coated, and just plain old emperor.
the white ludwig was my main kit for a while, but i just was always kinda worried about bringing almost 40 yr old drums on tour. so they just stay at home now and the c&c's take the beating haha

THX! I'll give the 14mils a try. (20 years of drumming and always used Ambassadors/G1or Aquarian single plys)
