I could never get delay to sound right with a fuzz. Took my delay off my board for now. Oh well.

I started using the reverb that skully built me, instead of reverb, sounds killer with fuzz. Maybe it's just what I have, but I could never get my delay to sound "washy" enough, always too clean and punctuated sounding, even though it's analog. The really dark analog delays I tried sounded like too much to me though, but I'm digging the reverb now.

Yeah, I'm sticking with reverb for now. By Biyang Tri-Verb sounds great with everything and I dig my Ghost Echo when paired with a Big Muff.

I like a little delay on my main tone but I try to keep it subtle. I do use some wierd sounds that have a ton of delay though, that's more for the oddball parts.

Naga Viper is really growing on me as I learn how it acts with different dirt. It's good with all of them but shines with a few.

when shit gets crazy i get a lot of muddyness
at low volume and slow playin it rules
but as the roar and speed comes in i lose all articuation
i think im gonna try somethin simpler just to see if thats the issue
making delay adjustments mid jam is a bummer

but i never wanna cut it out for fear of losin the reverb kind of effect/help
it smooths out my aweful choppy chord changes
its just an area i need to work on with or without the delaylab

I understand that idea, but really you are actually making your chord changes more sloppy cuz they come in late thanks to the delay. You go from D to E and while you're up on E, the delay is still on E. I think what you need is reverb to smooth out the edges.

skillz aside i think i gotta take advantage of presets more
more intense highr mix for slower intro stuff
then when we get rollin have a more subdued reverbish setting
prob is right now all those settings are in different banks
need to use one bank per song
cause each has three seperate presert switches
so as soon as i switch on heavier dirt
hit the second reverby preset right next to it
out of the whole internet
you still the one manage to figure me out

I think you should get a good delay pedal with real-ass knobs and have it set to the massive monster mamma jam, and then use a reverb for the smoothness. One pedal for leper bung, another for rim softening.

Your should definitely be taking advantage of that preset action though. You can switch through them yeah?
The only other suggestion I had was maybe a bit of verb, always on? maybe black metal styles at the start of your chain?

If you want to look into betting a different delay, see if skully will build you a two in one, stereo dirgedweller/dirgeplex. With a controller out option so you can fade the wet/dry mix in and out.

Yeah low mix is key, like 50% or lower with modest repeats. Makes for some great washy noise. Ham fisted chords included. Season appropriately with reverb.

Side note,I'm starting to fucking hate these Lava solder less mini cables. Low profile but fuck if they don't shit the bed all the time.

Side side note, MF Drive > Pharaoh is the bestest.

Every review seems to say that exact thing about those lava cables. And they're so fucking expensive. I just make my own cables, old school solder style. Fuck it. They're not low profile but they seldom shit the bed.

I think I'm the only person that has very few issues with them..... but I rarely ever change my board up anymore and I learned to tighten the ends when ever I do move things.

You also gotta be real careful when assembling them and it has to be a certain way....

My PT mini is packed pretty tight so I like the low profile of the Lava minis. I never change pedals so I'm guessing it's a user error issue. Maybe I should invest in some assembly assistance.

It is all in the assembly, you gotta have just the right amount of the center part sticking up and just the right amount of the ground folded over evenly around the ferrule. It's a paint but once you get it right it usually is fine. I always disassemble mine after putting it together the first time to double check for any stray strands of ground folding up and to make sure the the needle inside the plug is hitting the positive wire correctly.

yeah, that shit looks pretty clutch but the cost and the troubles i hear about people having seems like kind of a racket.

There is no substitute for soldering your own. Mogami cable and gls pancakes for the win. Will be no looking back.

ryan, don't use effects to smooth the edges. when i find myself looking for that i find that it's a good time to not use reverb or delay at all and pay a lot of attention to my own amp at practice. it's a practice moment and you can do it. i'm not a good guitar player at all really, but i've tried really hard to use those moments when they pop up to focus on my short comings and try to fix them. i'll turn my back to everyone and stand with my face in my own amp and try to really hear where i'm sloppy and work on it. like we'll play a song and everyone will be all "that was great!" and i'll be like, "can we do that one more time?". i don't make everyone do it over and over, but work on it a couple of times. and practice at home. seriously, if i can play anything in the world without flubbing the shit out of it, you definitely can. but like was said before, heavy ass delay isn't going to help, but reverb might. as far as delay that sounds awesome with dirt and speed and shit: disaster transport. it's the fucking shit. foot switchable modulation too, which is killer. great sounding simple pedal with great controls on real knobs.

as far as lava, i had some rough spots when i first put mine together but then i learned to be more careful and now that i've got a good technique down, i haven't had problems in years. like skip said, they're a little picky about assembly, but once you get it down they're awesome. i'll buy more when i need them.

Im midway through re-doing my board again...a bunch of pedal changes...and also simplifying to what i need rather than want...should have all the pieces this coming week...im really excited as also besides wah,tuner and comp the other pedal will be either BAT or EQD...
