black pedal under the mini is the BAT sarcophagus. right now the chain is buffer+ -> scarab deluxe -> wahoo -> twosome (which is new) -> sarcophagus -> whetstone -> particle -> cosmichorus -> mini -> trem -> flashback x4 -> trinity verb -> monarch -> back to the buffer+ for the clean boost.

I just got that twosome from ronripper last week, but I don't think it is going to throw the BAT off the board (it did knock off my black forest already, and I need some crazy doom/sludge sounds sometimes). I am digging the crazy tones of the fix'd side (fuzz2) right now. it sounds like my amp is dying :!!!:

It's pretty wild man, could just use that Nano and make a stupid amount of noise. If every pedal including the verb and delay has a fuzz control you know shit's right

I once had a mobius in the open space, and I constantly changed it to different mod combos. Ultimately I'm gonna go back and get a mobius. Black Acid is on the chopping block and will be replaced by a minimoog drive.

PS-2, Moog, and Dirge modded Rat will never leave. I'm likelier to ditch my tuner than leave any of those pedals.

Thanks folks! Ah man, I don't think so, the Fuck is pretty full on fuzzy when cranked. I'd say a cranked Fuck is similar to an almost cranked Demo.

Very nice board. What did Dirge do to the Rat?
I've got the same big box Rat that I've modded with ruetz mod, installed a chip socket and a lm308n chip. Led and bezel mod and a normal boss style dc socket. Would love to install a voltage starve and a diode selection switch. Silicon on one side, germanium on the other but not sure how to do it. All I can find is schematic diagrams on how to do. I need the morons guide.

Well he did a double reutz mod, added a switch for OD/Distortion, added a switch between LED, germanium, and silicon diodes although it never leaves the germanium setting at this point. He also made the filter sweep a lot better, added bass and balls in general to the whole thing. It sounds sick, and I loved it before he did it but now it's practically the only pedal that I would never sell. I recommend trying to at least get a switch for diodes because it's well worth it.

mine always had an LM308n chip so I didn't need to touch that.

I honestly want to add a starve and a soft click for oscillations/squelches.

I love Rats. The first real pedal I ever bought. Mine will be forever too. I think the Rat pedal is a must for every pedal board. Some people hate them. They are probably lovers of tube screamers. I will never have a tube screamer on my board.

I've bought and sold more Rats than I can remember. Got a love/hate thing with them. They seem picky about amps/gtrs/pups. And there's the low end sag. But on a good day, a good old rat still slays. Still, they're classics and all, they're an okay bang for the buck, and they're build like tanks...But imo they're made redundant with the tons of much nicer boutique variants out there :idk:

As far as classics go: Hotcake > Rat.

+1 for rats.

I have no idea how many distortions I went through (both cheap and mega expensive) before I finally settled on the rat. Its pretty much my core distortion tone now, plus I really like how crunchy it sounds as you roll off the volume knob on a guitar. It's probably just my ears, but I love how it sounds and responds. That and i'm a fan of the filter knob rather than a usual bandpass tone knob. I guess the downside of it for me is that it doesn't retain bass frequencies that well where I like it set (about 10 o'clock).

Once i've got some more cash in the bank though i'd love to try some of the variants out there, like blakemore's ROUS or the mojo hand (I think?) Socrates.
