Matamp.jpg

Just picked up this 212 at the weekend from the Matamp factory in Yorkshire. Such a great day and I know I'll be back for more in future. I ended up going for Celestion Hot 100 speakers too. Sound crisp and clean until they break up, and then they sound real heavy.

They fully revoiced my 1224 Mk I as well, and it's now stiffer, cleaner, has greater output and is more cutting. I am happy!

Thanks very much! I've been lurking on here for a little while now, picking up bits of information as I develop my new rig. Finally completed it, for now, so thought it was time to join the party.

One of the very few plus points of living in the UK, for gear, is Matamp. I cannot recommend them enough. Their customer service was absolutely stunning and I'll be raving about them forever now. Also, I priced their products when I got home against getting something roughly equivalent from Orange and here in the UK they are much cheaper. Crazy to think! They also had a couple of products/announcements in development that were MINDBLOWING. If they reach market then it'll be game changing for me, and some of you guys I am sure.

Well I'm glad to see you finally posting! I'd def say that rig is worthy!

I've got mixed feelings about Matamp UK, had a couple friends order from there and have some issues. Such as shipping with tubes installed and no bubblewrap in the box just a cardboard box around the head. Resulting in less than satisfactory conditions upon receipt.

Your sig says you have a Green GT120 for sale?!?!?! WE NEED DEETZ!

Haha, thank you! I am delighted with the sound from it right now.

You know, I have heard similar nasty stories regarding their postage practices. Lucky for me I was able to rent a van and go down and pick up gear, meaning that all was well. I take your point though, for sure.

I do, but it's a little bit of an oddity, and I don't wish to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. So, I've put a reasonably full explanation of it in the buy/sell/trade. It's certainly a beast!

I saw that and posted in there as well. Not that I have the funds as I just picked up a Dunwich which is fairly similar but I do love me some amp porn. Oh the things I would probably trade....

Dunwich amps are amazing. I know I'd be in the queue for one of those if I lived over there.

I mean, we can discuss trades if you like. I am open to suggestions if you want to drop me a PM. The single issue is postage, but I am sure a workaround can be achieved!

I live in Ireland and Nick from Dunwich is about to begin building my custom amp. It's a small 1x12 combo and should hopefully weigh a lot less than his bigger amps, but still. It'll cost a lot of money with shipping and taxes, but there is NO ONE in the EU who can do the work that Nick does. No one. That dude is a one in million.

Thanks very much dude. It's been a labour of love over the past few months changing my rig around to get something that suits what my band does, but I really hope I am there for now. Where in Ireland are you? I visited Dublin for the first time in August.

I can't wait to see a 1x12 Dunwich! Roughly what specs are you going for?

It isn't a pre-gain model, I don't think. It's a bit of an odd one. Hopefully pics later will clarify it a little! Like I said, it's a funny custom job which Dave Green made specifically for the US doom/drone/sludge market. Only this one never made it to the States, for whatever reason.
