Randomly picked up my own copy of Red Dead Redemption yesterday. Saw my brother in law playing Dishonored, which is the first time I've seen anything about the game other than hearing about it. Holy fudge. It's awesome.

There's nothing like getting off your horse to check something out and then immediately dying to a mountain lion attack.
Or dragging people into rattlesnakes with the lasso.
Or bailing your horse off of a cliff.

It's awesome how we live in a time where there's powerful and complicated RPGs for everybody.. you can be cowboy, a steampunk assassin, a dragon-talking warrior-wizard, a post-apocalyptic badass.... I can't think of any awesome contemporary space RPG... or a pirate one... or anything girl oriented.. but still, lots of awesome RPGs!

Haha. Yeah, I was just thinking about RDR yesterday and how I want to pretend I'm Roland Deschain. I always find myself using the shotgun almost exclusively in any game... GTA, Resident Evil, Doom, Bioshock... wanna grab that bitch in RDR and go ka-razy.

And bail my horse off of a cliff.

Did you ever play System Shock? Dead Space borrowed quite a bit from it.
It's a lot more rpg like, fits into that Deus Ex lineage... and Bioshock of course.

I'm really enjoying Dishonored, I only reload to see different solutions on the assassinations. But I get pretty murderous when spotted so I die to crowds of guards sometimes, so saving a lot helps.

I think a lot of the fun comes from impovising a solution to dire situations, you miss out on that if you try to do everything perfectly.

I'm digging the playstation vitas ports of old games. Final fantasy 7,8,9 for $10 each that I can play anywhere? So much nostalgic fun.

I always felt like the only one who liked Final Fantasy 8.
But that was like...my first RPG besides Dragon Warrior. I grew up on that jank. I love the junctioning system and how you can totally break the stats and overpower yourself at level 7 or 8.
That I could explore the entire school that even had its own message boards and stuff blew my mind. And then I walked outside and HOLY CRAP THE WORLD IS HUGE.
I did that beach assault at least 5 times before I even got a memory card. Amazing.

7 and 8 were both masterpieces. I think 8 is a phenomenal game by itself, but the fact that it followed 7 kind of forces it into a position where it may not have lived up to the hype. 7 is the first game I ever played, and even though 8 is awesome, i think people wanted another 7. that being said, I'm gonna play through both and love every second of it.
