My PS3 is coming in the mail today! I'm starting simple with the first Bioshock, then I'm going to get into Uncharted and Heavy Rain and Resident Evil and all that other shit.

FUN.

Sounds like a fun ass plan to me, Christian!

Haha touche! Good point there! I like leveling up gear and making it magical and powerful etc but I don't want to memorize ingredients for potions and practice sharpening knives and skinning leather and all the tradeskill kinda stuff... I see why people like that though, pretty involving and cool to be able to do that stuff.

I mostly just like creeping through dark corridors looking for monsters and then fighting them and then getting money or treasure... love that stuff!

My cousin lent me his copy of Red Dead Redemption. I am going to try and plow through the rest of Amalur before I start, but I'm pumped about playing it.

Borderlands is a pretty cool game, I've checked out a few demos...

I've got pretty far in Dark Souls now, been playing two different characters based on my idea of old AD&D archtypes, a paladin and a sorcerer. Got them both in Blighttown now, beat the Gaping Dragon with the paladin last night. It's funny, all the first parts of the game are so fun and awesome... and now that I'm in Blighttown I don't even want to play anymore haha! That area is just so cruel and difficult and I really like exploring every nook and cranny... flippin annoying zone.

I keep hearing good things about Demon's Souls... that it's one of the most rewarding video games to play. Anyone know if that's like more RPG or action/adventure or a mix or what?

"Dishonored" is supposed to be a really great game too... the demos didn't look GREAT, but some video game sites are really hyping it up.

I've been playing Bioshock and enjoying most of it. I feel like I've yet to really get into the dirt of the game. Pretty fun... though I'm not much of an FPS dude.

Demon's Souls is pretty much exactly like Dark Souls, just has slightly different game play mechanics but it's basically the same idea. It's an action RPG... you're still going to level your character's stats and equipment but it's action oriented in that you're engaging in one on one melee with smart AI opponents and the view is very up close and personal.

Demon's Souls is the predecessor to Dark Souls but the designers don't call Dark Souls a sequel, it's like a slightly different imagining of the same world. They're both fantastic games, super rewarding as they're both quite a challenge. I personally think they're the best dungeon crawl RPG games ever made. They're hardcore and unforgiving games but they own hard.

I don't know Dishonored yet.. I'll check it out!

Bioshock was a gooder.. really cool looking! I'm not an FPS dude either though.

Ah haaaaa. I figured they were connected but thought that Dark Souls came first.

Dishonored looks to be about an assassin/conjurer that can manipulate time and matter and all sorts of shit... and you can play the game any way you want. Like you're given an objective and you can go about completing it any way you'd like. I know that's been done in games before, but as far as I've heard, this one goes beyond.

Can't wait for Dishonored. That being said, I haven't played anything in a few weeks. no time  I'm hoping Dishonored changes that.

Dishonored will be amazing. It's not even up for debate. Well, actually Bethesda is publishing it, so they might fuck it up...
BUT THE GUYS WHO DESIGNED/DEVELOPED THIEF, DEUS EX AND HALF-LIFE ARE MAKING IT. THAT'S 3 OF THE BEST PC GAMES EVER. :!!!: /fanboi

Ha! I'm at Blight Town too! I think that was my first non-boss death since working out the mechanics back in undead berg. I was all "tra-la-la I'll knock you lizard men to your death...HUH, I'M POISONED? WHY AM I DEAD?!" Haven't played in like a week because I don't want to deal with being poisoned by random barely visible environmental hazards...
I'm playing as a strength build because it's the exact opposite of what I usually play as. In a couple levels I'll be able to use some of the HUGE great axes and just smash stuff.

Ryan basically got it. The story isn't as integral to the game as it is in "real" RPGs. It's basically "THE WHOLE WORLD HAS TURNED EVIL EXCEPT FOR THE MERCHANTS. KILL EVERYTHING."

Bethesda is cool! Well I thought they were cool...I thought they owned... what did they hose up?

I bailed out of Blighttown and began goofing around in the Garden zones instead, killed Moonlight Butterfly, gonna do the Hydra and buy spells at Dusk next session. I watched a couple Blighttown guides and now I see where the bonfires are and I don't feel so skeered of that place... flippin dangerous unforgiving zone though, geeez.

So what big weapon are you using or gonna use with your strength build?

Bethesda's rpgs have been on a slide since Morrowind really... they make amazing worlds for sure, shame about the games they put inside them.

Their publishing record isn't great either, they put out Rage and Brink. Both were actually ok for what they were, but got hyped to hell, and technical problems on launch. I don't think anyone going into Dishonored knowing the pedigree of the designers is going to get disappointed though, maybe people who haven't played an "immersive-sim" type game...
