Re: Let's see your BASS!
here's the mustang again. got one of those vinyl competition stripes off ebay, but it doesn't look right. i thought it should run closer to the bridge, but it wasn't long enough. also i don't think the color works with the pickguard. meh.

Re: Let's see your BASS!
I played this vintage bass today and it was the first time I really "connected" with a bass. With drums it was instantaneous, and with the guitar I realized after the first pedal I was in love, but today really got me into the bass.
It was a Fender Precision from the late 60's (might've been a reissue, didn't pay that much attention because I knew I couldn't afford it) but yeah...that was a great bass.

I like uprights,...but I can't afford a decent acoustic,...Seems like an EUB would be more affordable, easier to transport,....less prone to feeding back,...more effects friendly.
You're reminding me that I'm shirking my duties as an NS Design CR-5M owner by not running it through my effect pedals. I am bowing the hell out of it though; it's got a gorgeous tone. The initial hybrid strings that came with it didn't do too much for me, but I luckily had an old set of Thomastik Spirocores that I put on it to make it really sing. Bowing a low B doesn't suck, either.
In the cheap vs. expensive debate, I care that my gear is dependable and durable. For me, I've found my more expensive basses are much more reliable and durable, not needing as much tweaking between gigs or fiddling with it. I just gig far too much now to have any instrument down for any reason. My Warwick Streamer LX hasn't had the trussrod touched in the three years I've had it, and it was just taken to the shop last October for a setup/look over.
If I had time, I'd built my own again; I took an SX and wired it to 1962 stacked v/t v/t settings, and it killed tonally. I was also adjusting the action on it fairly regularly.

this just showed up at my work. Squier classic vibe precision. Even out of the box it craps bloody rainbows over the old mexican precision I used to have.

Re: Let's see your BASS!
So I did an experiment today with my Jackson bass. I played with my eyes closed, which I do on occasion by accident, but never on purpose. I did not have any problems finding notes and played normal as I would. I've never really paid attention as to whether or not I actually look at the fret board when I'm playing. I guess I do when I'm learning or writing a new song or riff, but not for ones I already know. Occasionally I'll fuck up if I'm going way down the neck though. I think with practice I could swing a fretless pretty easily. I'm not getting one now, but I've been thinking about it ever since I brought it up. haha.
Roscoe basses are the shit btw! I watched some demos of them and they sound/look amazing! I'd easily spend 3k on a bass if I had it. My dream bass is a Wal, so yea. Those are more than 3k anyway. Gotta man up and pony out the cash bros. jk, but seriously. Want a Wal hard so I can be Justin Chancellor. lol I actually did lol just now.
