hELLO Ryan and Merry Christmas !

I see that you did ground the enclosure of my element on the upper right side on the output jack.
So I guess I don't have to do it myself on the other side (like on Lostboy picture, input jack)

Thanks !

I'm a new proud owner of The Elements and new to this forum. I would just like to say that The Elements pedal is ridiculously unbelievable! Mine's not black like I've seen on this forum. It's brownish/gold in color with gears and chains on it. It's also numbered by hand on the back. I don't know if this is a newer version or what, but it's very well built and looks great.
I've been running two ZWOD's "stacked" for my main guitar tone for the last few years now (before it was two Boss SD1's stacked) and have been looking for a od/distortion pedal that would replace this set up. I've tried Skreddy, Wampler, Suhr, MXR, Rockett, etc...just waaaay to many to list here and haven't had any luck.
I stumbled upon The Elements while searching Prymaxe Vintage and took a chance. I must say that this is one of the most versatile pedals I've ever used!
By itself it's just great! It has all the overdrive/distortion you could ever need and the tone is very close to what I currently have, especially with the mid toggle in the middle position and the mid control at about 4 o'clock. When I lower the gain & push it with the ZWOD, it just kills! I'm very pleasantly surprised at how "alive" it sounds and how versatile it is. The Elements is a must have on your board and it covers every od/distortion need that there is! It stacks well and is great on it's own, depending on what you're looking for!
Thanks for a great pedal Ryan!

Ryan wrote:One other favourite setting... check out this guitar tone, this song definitely inspired the name of the pedal although I think the song is about Dune, not alchemy, which more inspired the name.

You need a low tuned guitar, A I think, and then set the pedal up like this:

High gain mode, gain knob 100%, mix knob 100%, bass cut down, mid freq middle, bass knob 75%, mid knob 0%, treble knob 50ish%

I didn't know this band Ryan.
I did listen to the first album where this song come from, really really good !
(I don't like most recent albums)

The distortion sound of the guitar (or guitar + bass I guess) is amazing, I'll try this setting next week and see the face of the other guys in the band

Thanks for the suggestion,
Gauthier

Hi Ryan -
I almost forgot to mention the "note to note" definition/string separation of your pedal...it is outstanding! Runs are very percussive, sweeps sound incredible and you can actually "hear the string" if that makes any sense.
You really made an amazing pedal! My only complaint is that I didn't find your pedal, The Elements, first! I've tried and sent over 20 od/distortion pedals back in the last year, but The Elements isn't going anywhere. I couldn't be happier!
Thanks again!

PS - Thanks for the warm welcome and the info about the Steampunk finish! Very Cool Indeed!

Awesome, Gauthier, I'm really happy you checked that album out! It's a really special album to me, really blew me away when I first heard it back in 99 and I haven't stopped being kinda amazed by it since. The guitar tones on the whole album are just amazing.... interesting tidbit of info, the lead singer/guitar player is the son of Cher and Duane Allman. I don't like a lot of new albums either and I'm always hoping to hear a band that sounds like Deadsy, kickass synth rock.

Kakunga, I am very happy that you're enjoying the pedal! You've made my day again, sir! Thank you *smile*

i've had my Steampunk Elements for a few weeks now and i cannot get away from this setting. it's similar to what sylnau posted in the beginning but with a little more drive! it reminds of playing through an old gibsonette amp which i tried out at a local shop not too long ago. i love that lofi tone!

Sometimes i'll move the bass cut toggle from the mid position up for a little more warmth. i currently use my elements with a Spaceman Aphelion in front of it. with the elements at this setting the two together create a real nice thick warm bright tone...a kind of vintage warm overdrive stew!

Any rough idea Ryan when we can expect the new version of the Elements? I've gotta start saving. I've been waiting years for a gain pedal with expression controlled mix.

Great setting, Doc! I love that thin lo-fi sound too.

NWS, we're gonna do another round of the steam punk boxes so the next new Elements finish won't be until the end of March. Sorry about that! We only get 125 of these boxes at a time so we've been doing doubles as 125 isn't enough for every store to see them.

We don't have any plans for it yet, what kinda colour are you hoping for? I'd like to see a quantum particles or periodic table style finish in the future, I think that'd be cool.

for me the steam punk is much more aesthetically pleasing than the previous "arcane" run! that's just me though!

Ryan ~ i've spent hours messing with this thing but i always come back to those settings! it's a fabulous pedal!

btw...i'm running my elements at 12v with a T~Rex Chameleon. after running it at 9v, 12v and 18v, for my needs/ears the 12v is the best (not too dirty not too clean)!

I think I'd probably choose the steam punk over the black one but I liked that run a lot, especially the second round that had the much darker matte black symbols layer, it looked pretty slick. And all of the symbols are for planets and elements so I like that theme a lot.

That's cool you're using it at 12V, nobody ever mentions 12V! I've never even tried it at 12V! Really glad you're still liking it, thanks again!

Futuresailors approves of a science finish!
If you can order smaller batches from the silk screener, you could do a multi batch run of the periodic table by splitting it into sections, so if you collect all of them you've got a complete image!

New favourite for teh heeveez:
Gain: 100%
Volume: loud
Mix 100%
Gain: Up
Clip: Up
Buss cut: Down
Mid freq: Down
Bass: 80%
Mids:55%
Treble: 65%
