REALLLLY hope I get dead space next.
Been playing COD black ops (hey mang I find all games fun...well maybe not so much sports). Great plot for a shooter, very manchurian candidate meets memento meets lost.

HATETREDCOPTER TIME: BUMPER CAR PHYSICS! What the fuck.
In a lot of games, NPC's can sometimes get in your way. Usually you can just bump them out of the way, which is great.

Well in COD Black Ops NPC's can do it to you.
I'd be sitting behind a wall/in a trench/on a ledge recovering my health and one of my npc AI ally's would come barreling in and knock me straight into the line of fire. I can't count how many times I died because of this.

This is made worse by the fact that the NPC's seem to be programed to take up the most ideal/most covered positions (even though they have infinite health). I'd frequently pick out an awesome covered spot near a corner to engage the enemy only to have an NPC bump me out of it.
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

The only advantage to this kind of physics system is when a game with one allows you to push players around in multiplayer. Oh my god pushing friendly snipers off of their perches is so fun.

...but if you really want to grief a sniper, stand next to him and run right in front of him just before he fires, especially if it's an instant-kill weapon like the AWP or that thing in Farcry 2...Farcry 2 was great because you could also just fire your flare gun straight up into the air and give the sniper away. Or light the brush around him on fire, that was also fun. Man, I kind of miss having an Xbox. I would grief the hell out of select people in FC2 once I discovered they were jerks. Not straight-out maliciousness like killing them every time they spawn (that's no fun), just fucking with them enough to send me a hate message so I could take a picture of it and laugh later...the good old days.

Yea I see how it's awesome for multiplayer.
Just another nail in the coffin for single player games.

If I wanted to interact with other people I wouldn't be playing video games :grumpy:

I fear for the future of single player. It's all about the multi right now. I mean, games still have singleplayer, but you don't often hear of games that have mind-blowing SP. Or where much of the focus and features are in SP.

I've also been fiercely craving good co-op games for a long time now, you also don't see those much. Playing on the same team as your friend in a regular MP game isn't the same.

The single thing that kills me about Shadow of the Colossus is how the framerate is so low at times

I'm not the kind of person who won't play a game if it doesn't have OMG CRYSIS GRAFIX, but when the entire game is just you versus this giant-ass thing the framerate should be consistent.

Anyway....that game rocks. The third Colossus is by far my favorite.

GAAAAAAAAAH I was just speakin' on today with my fiend how I used to like three years ago have a slimline PS2, and how I wish I could, on command, or like on cue or queue or whatever, go and reminisce and like run through the fields with CJ, my hero. Like right now I wanna just turn on San Andreas and like go to my little place in San Fierro and put on my damned hockey mask and go drivin' in my Infernus. Also I never played SotC but I would looooooooooooove to but I like I said don't have a PS2 only a Wii which is fine but can't do SotC.

Also which is the best 8-bit Mega Man game? (Mega Man 9 & 10 do count)

Anyone looking forward to The Darkness 2 This Year? Just me... okay... i'll go now...

What about this Dead Island game i've read about... Zombies on a Holiday Island... slow walking proper ones too.

Dead Space 2 better be bad ass, i'm hoping it's a bit of an improvement on the first, not that it wasn't cool but the scares dried up quick... it was like... oh... there's a monster on the floor ahead of me... that's funny they usually dissapear after a while... i'll just shoot at it... oh look... it was alive really... oh no... that vent... i'll just aim at it for the next 2 minutes... etc.

I'm craving me some old school Survival Horror still, Resident Evil let me down with the reboot from 4 onwards, fun yes, but it's not really a Resident Evil game anymore, it's action based, need to fill that "OH SHIT, is it behind that corner? Fuck I don't know... Why am I carrying a gun with no bullets!... This Music or lack of is freaking me... I'll just beat whatever comes round the corner in the face with my empty gun! Oh FUCK, Stupid 3 Directional Up Down Movement Made Me Miss it's head and now it's eating me!" Void

The friendly fire in multiplayer is fucking atrocious. And it gets way too hectic with more than one person imo.

Cool concepts and stuff, I like that you can mix spells but so far it seems like the only really useful tactics are water + lightning, spamming Thunderbolt, or mixing things to make a laser beam. The other stuff is cooler and I like that you can add spells to your sword, but all of those moves take too long to kill and battles become shield - run away - knock enemies away - water+lightning - run away - knock away - repeat...

I dunno, I'll give it another try. It's still cool though.
