Re: Listening to musicians you love talk about music
Not sure if this is quite the right place for this, but if anyone wants to see someone in the BBC Radiophonic workshop create the early 1980s version of the Doctor Who theme tune (not the Delia Derbyshire original) then this might be fun to watch. Lots of lovely retro synth gear involved! And a bonus bit of Fairlight at the end for super hi tech early 80s nostalgia.

found in the Bowie Bible...
re: the 2018 re-recorded version of "Never Let Me Down"
"We didn’t really keep any of the original synth stuff from the album. A lot of those textures are guitar-played or stuff that Mario did after the fact. The part you’re talking about — it sounds like a baritone sax or a synth — that’s actually an Alexander Syntax Error pedal. That just came to me, and it sounded right...."

i suppose you can listen to the track to play spot the pedal, but i don't advise it. still semi-cool to see the pedlol shout-out

Re: Listening to musicians you love talk about music
I just watched a few of the Gibson Icon interviews - where its just a musician telling there story. They are well done to Gibson's credit because they are edited well and give the artist a uncolored platform. The Tony Imommi, and Jerry Cantrell ones are stellar.
The Rex Brown Icon video is incredible, and not because I am a huge Pantera Fan. Great story about not just the band but the late 80's / 90's Texas music scene, and the evolution of Pantera's sound. I now have a huge respect and admiration for Rex and the roll he played in keeping things going - and also how he tells the absolutely tragic end of Dime's life and the falling out between Phil and Vinne Paul

Re: Listening to musicians you love talk about music
@Max agreed! those ones are great, I watched the Rex Brown episode over the last weekend and the way he talks about their entire history is super entertaining, especially because it's not the usual "main guitar player" point of view, and it makes it even more interesting when he speaks about the directions they were going for on each different album.
The Jerry Cantrell episode was awesome, the whole EVH amps story, and all the things he went through with Layne etc..
Iommi, well you just have to shut up and listen to the man himself.
Kirk Hammett was.. interesting but has big EGOMANIAC vibes all over it, whether referred to him or Metallica, or the scene or wathever. It just seems that he constantly has to underline how great is/was everything related to him, which it surely was but heyy...
Mustaine episode, useless to say, goes the same ego-way, but to me it's a lot better as him & Megadeth went through so many phases, so it's a wild ride.
The Bob Rock episode is instructive, even if it talks a lot about bands I absolutely avoid.
Jumping on a different train:
Beato's continuous nodding irritates me and I can't do anything about it, but this is a great interview nonetheless.
Another great one from a few months back, don't think it was posted:

Beato is always irritating.
He does sometimes talk to some interesting people though.
This interviewer is also irritating. Don't let that stop you from listening to Mr. Cline however:

I love Rick but I am with you in the Annoying part - I have his book and its even written in a snarky annoying manner but the dude knows his shit and I greatly respect him for caliber of musician he is.
