On a way I find it nice, but to me it's way too specialized into these frippentronics/Steve Reich kind of loop mangling.
And the whole advertisement about how wonderful it is as a meditation machine, pulls it into the new age/hippy depertment :animal:
I have a Lyra 8 from Soma Lab and I would absolutely describe it as a meditative instrument. Its completely unlike anything I have ever used and you can just kind of zone out while playing it in a way that isn't possible while playing a guitar. They just do weird stuff there.

I have few questions about the RC500:
- with the Assign function can I switch between Immediate/fade out Stop/Play modes?
- Track Chain: did I understand the manual right? If you have the option set to SERIES, does this mean that loop 1 goes into Loop 2 (so that you can record loop1 on loop 2)?
- Is it right you have a programmable ALL Start function, bu not an ALL STOP?

I know it has a overdub replace modus, but if Boss would implement an overdub decay/feedback function and maybe also an half speed on a future firmaware update, I wouldn't wait to pull the trigger this one!

Soundwaves vibrate the eardrum like an Aeolion Harp through sympathetic resonance.
Sound resonates the chest cavity like a drum. A slow rate of breathing accompanies calm,
rapid breathing mimics or induces panic, same goes with heart rate. Meditation is just
an understanding of the impact on human physiology of rhythm.

A musician transforms emotions into sound vibrations, and then those sound vibrations
enter the ear, rattle the chest cavity and through sympathetic resonance, transform
within the listener's mind and bdy back into emotions. Of course there is personal
and cultural filtering that goes on, but on a fundamental level, a sound resonates,
a rhythm is felt and sets up an expectation of pattern.

In the past, "action at a distance" (the power of magnets over iron shavings,
the fact that rubbing a piece of amber against fur generates static electricity) was used
as a metaphor to explain how magic works.

It's easy to perceive music as magic, new age, or in the "depertment" of hippy.
Music is pertinent if you are in the mood for and open to vibrations as they manifest.
Not all music "resonates" with everyone in all situations. But that doesn't mean that
the mechanism doesn't work.

1) I do not believe you can assign a footswitch to switch between stop modes- although if you have fade out as your stop mode, you can double tap to stop immediately instead.

2) yes series works the way you are describing it.

3) I have not messed around with the all start function yet but according to the manual, there is an all start but no specific function for all stop. Seems like a glaring omission- it may be the case that hitting “all start” after the tracks are playing will cause them to “all stop” but I haven’t tried it. I’ll check it out this weekend.

Very promising device. Availability is an insta-issue (immediate, Instagram-based scarcity).

At $650 I doubt the flip squad will be over this. 90 units available in 2 weeks.

Sometimes I see something or hear something that completely gets me to questioning my approach and that guys looping vids are firmly in that category.

I didn't set that about only 90 units initially, if I am understanding you all correctly. If so, I will be a little surprised if they last long. The EDP and a foot controller were a lot more than $650.

Andre's video popped up yesterday on my feed. An incredibly exciting unit, for sure (doesn't hurt that Andre is an amazing loopist!) and for once being in the eurozone is an advantage!

90 unit initial run is sad because I may not get one but hopefully turnaround between batches will be reasonable?

That said, I didn't really have a hard time finding a Moutarde back in the day so fingers crossed!

Yeah, I had a Pralines for a period that I got secondhand at a decent price (aka not scalped). Hopefully for those of you wanting one, that remains the case

After watching some of the videos available i was intrigued but also confused, so I went through the whole manual and I found it easy to understand and very detailed at the same time.

Honestly I am more than impressed. The amount of features and combinations available is above my expectations (i must say i have absolutely no experience with the EDP).

The thing that amazed me the most is how customizable it is: with all those foot switches and tactile switches it can simultaneously cover all the loop / sample / timestretch / delay / pitch shifting / frippertronics functions i could ever need, and i'm surely forgetting something. It seems that the readFx available, particularly the stutter effects, can be tailored to the most peculiar needs.

The only downside I found is 43seconds of max looping time, which I guess might be a deal breaker for someone. :idk:

Also, finally a EU-friendly price-tag. :)

I won't even try to buy one when it drops or in the near future as it's waaay more than i need, but i'd absolutely love to check one out down the line.
Curious to hear some first hand impressions if any ILFer gets one. :snax:
