Here we serve lutfisk with bechamel and green peas.

It mostly tastes like bechamel, with a hint of fish and a lot of jelly.
I don't hate it, but I don't like it much either.

Just made a couple of plates of gingerbread with the youngsters. UC, both the lamb and the pork with pork with pork look killer.

I'm also totally down with the chorizo and tortilla breakfast. That sounds rad.

Excellent menus all around, gang! Gonna phone it in this year and get a spiral-cut ham to throw in the oven, and maybe make some mashed potatoes. I should probably get some greens too.

I think my mom is gonna make a bunch of stuff to give to us, not sure what exactly yet, but that's cool with mee.

What I've really been craving all year though is my friend's mom's amazing Pakistani cooking. Soooo goooood but soooo spiiicyyyy.

I grew up with lutefisk on Christmas eve, but in our household we make nut roast with baked brussels sprouts (with walnuts, almonds, and cranberries), mashed rutabagas, baked potatoes, and steamed carrots, in a mushroom sauce. Omnomnom. Making it Wednesday and eating it two days in a row.

You got a recipe for that nut roast? I had a killer recipe in a shit cookbook. Threw out the cookbook and forgot to write down that one rad recipe. Haven't found one that I've been super happy with since then.

Reading this thread is making me hungry. I really wish I could sample all of these.

I've been invited to a lasagna dinner for Christmas, so I'm off the hook with respect to cooking this year.

@goroth Nut roast? I basically make this one https://www.vegetarbloggen.no/2012/12/2 ... ekhjelpen/ with some minor changes every year. One very important thing not in the recipe is to save the mushroom water for sauce. Dried mushrooms are super expensive, and that water gives you amazing taste in your sauce, so it would be ridiculous to just bin it. I make a very simple brown sauce with it, where I melt margarine, add flour, and the mushroom water (in place of plain water or vegetable stock). And then a bit of soy sauce, nutmeg, pepper, and a tiny bit of brown sugar.

I've always been an eat-everything person - I'm just as happy eating rare steak as vegan food. So I've always had nut roasts just cos they are rad. Would probably go alright with some chorizo too...

I'm looking at the ingriedents and realizing that i don't have nearly the 50% of what is needed (and google-translating it from norwegian isn't helping)
