I haven't liked much of his output in the last few years. Opiate Sun and Ascension were the last records that really grabbed me.

I've listened to it a couple of times over the weekend and I agree with manymanyhaha, I didn't appreciate the vocals very much. It's not bad but II don't think I'm going to come back to it very often in the future.More_Divebombs wrote:I didn't particularly like the EP he released earlier in the year. You didn't like the recent Godflesh stuff? Or some of the JK Flesh?More_Divebombs wrote:I didn't particularly like the EP he released earlier in the year. Is this along the same lines?

Ah no, I worded that poorly. I meant Jesu output, rather than JKB's general output. Godflesh is always good, and I like JK Flesh even if techno isn't my bag, he does it in a way that appeals to me (i.e. nasty!). I really like the Zonal LP he did with The Bug recently too. I'd love to hear him do more dubby electronic stuff like that.manymanyhaha wrote:You didn't like the recent Godflesh stuff? I didn't particularly like the EP earlier this year either. I think I said elsewhere but it is still true: Though I appreciate him pushing his sound into different territories, it wasn't territories that I was able to appreciate. Terminus has some moments that are similar. The auto-tune sound of some of the vocals doesn't do anything for me (think Dowi is hinting at this same thing). I will probably try to give another listen at some point but yes, I don't find this new iteration of Jesu to be particularly inspiring like I did the new iteration of Godflesh.

I think the last few JK Flesh records have been techno, or some variant of it. JKB seems to consider it techno when I've read/heard him talking about that project. The earlier stuff seemed a more mixed bag. I dunno, I like it all, whatever it is. I don't usually care for a 4 on the floor thing, but I seem to make an exception for JK Flesh. I mostly like how it makes my speakers sound like they're going to cave in.manymanyhaha wrote:Agreed on all fronts! Although . . .

I honestly don't know . . . .
I try to listen to everything you release, by the way, but you release so much, I can't fuckin keep up
Yeah, I pretty much eliminate all 4 on the floor crap from consideration, don't get it. But have really come to enjoy lots of non-4 on the floor electronic stuff the last few years, including lots of stuff I kind of somehow missed listening to between the mid-90's (Scorn, Techno Animal etc) to about 2017 or so when I started paying attention again.More_Divebombs wrote: I don't usually care for a 4 on the floor thing, but I seem to make an exception for JK Flesh.
Indeed!More_Divebombs wrote: I mostly like how it makes my speakers sound like they're going to cave in.

Same! I adore Scorn, though I was very late to that project too, but that was my gateway to electronic music a good few years ago.manymanyhaha wrote:Yeah, I pretty much eliminate all 4 on the floor crap from consideration, don't get it.
