It’s a good thing you’re so headstrong and never lose your head in a tough situation.

Accidents are definitely scary and it does rattle your nerves. However, you won’t be crippled with fear the rest of your life, it’s definitely something that can be overcome!

the only physical effect was a bump on my right hand where i assume the cross-bar on the steering wheel whacked it when i hit. i didn't even get cut by the jagged shards of twisted metal when i climbed out the hole where the door had been. i just can't figure it out. it's a testimony to how much safer cars are now...if i'd been driving a 65 Chevy i'd have hit the steel dashboard and turned to tomato paste. and there were more miraculous stories than mine. everyone was stuck up there for 4 or 5 hours cos the road was totally blocked and so i wound up sheltering in someone's Jeep Cherokee (it was about 27 degrees F.) with three other folks who had crashed before me. the first car involved (there were also two semis--one of which flipped--and a tour bus full of elderly gamblers which went THROUGH the overturned trailer) hit the butt end of a guardrail at 80 MPH with no seatbelt. the driver walked away. the other two people were women driving those little boxy proto-SUVs, both of whom went into the center median and flipped; one did two barrel rolls. by all rights all four of us should have been dead. airbags and three-point harnesses FTW. did i mention crumple zones? those are good, too.

i already felt that i was coming to the end of a long cycle of rebirth before the crash, but that drew a bold line under the last ten years of my life. i figure i'm now on life #8. i wonder what's next?

Luckily cats have 9 lives, be safe on those!
Jokes aside, the only good thing about near-death experiences is that they make you look at life from a different point of view, hopefully a better one.

Fuck, glad to hear you're alright. Those sorts of accidents are always in the back of my mind once winter hits. Hope you had/have time to rest!
