Today was not a good day, but I dare not call it a bad one. It could have ended tragically and I am consoled that it did not. This morning, I took my dog Lilly out running errands with me, as I have almost every time I have run errands since she came into my life. She loves riding in the car.
As we drove on the back roads of Paris, KY looking for garage sales, I heard a sound and turned to the passenger seat. She was gone. My eyes darted to the rearview mirror and I saw a sight that has burned itself into my mind. My beloved hound, my co-pilot, flipping end over end on the shoulder of the road.
I immediately stopped the car and was relieved to see her up and walking, without a limp. As I got closer, I saw blood streaming from her face. She had a pair of vicious cuts over her eyes and was covered in scrapes. I lifted her into the passenger seat and drove her to a nearby vet.
Covered in blood and shaking, I felt lucky when I saw that the 'Open' sign was flipped and there was life inside. I brought her in and... I'm not going to talk about the treatment I was given by the vet office. We will not be returning and I am pretty pissed off, but now is not the time.
I'm thankful that she is alive and well. She has stitches in her face and painkillers to take for the next week. Lilly's tail is wagging and she is back by my side. We could have lost a family member today and we did not. That is enough to keep this from being a bad day.

I'm getting familiar with my new job and I think I got my insurance premiums paid just in time (like hours) before I lost my coverage.

My beloved Lilly (dog) got her stitches out and is fine. She has some scars, but she is her old self.

Turns out I don't have HIV

edit: clarifying to look like less of a dick. I've been sick for the better part of a year and a half now, got a bunch of bloodwork done last week, including HIV tests, hepatitis, SLE and other fun stuff. I haven't gotten all the results back yet, but results for HIV and hepatitis are negative. Which is what I expected, but good nonetheless.

I only drink once a week these days so try new beers less and less.

Founder's released a watermelon gose and, despite its sweetness, it's a great beer.

Also my baby crawls and is fast as fuck. Summer is hot so usually first thing we do is walk baby/dog about 3 miles. Cold this morning so everybody but baby and I is still asleep. Gonna get back into my ILF routine.

Finally got to kick out my shitty roommate today. This also belongs on the aggravation thread because it was a spectacularly awkward and acidic confrontation but at least I'm one step closer to her getting the fuck out of my life.
