Re: My Telecaster (what would you do ?)
I agree with comments about a tele being twangy / biting — that's one of the things that's so great about them, if you ask me. BUT, lots of options for more modern / higher output pickups. I'll add the Joe Barden Modern T to the suggestion pile.
Also fwiw if I play a tele that's too bright, I can almost always fix it by just dialing the tone knob back to around 5

Re: My Telecaster (what would you do ?)
A tele will always be a tele. So I need something else.
I might keep this one... but it will never sound the way I want it to.
I'll have to try to find some cool guitar dealer in Canada. (some that don't just sell the same shit as other dealer).
I don't want a strat, a les paul or another tele... those are boring. But I don't have an infinite budget.

Why not build your own? Warmoth has some cool body shapes, some not really seen. Everyone seems to order the same few bodies (basically fender variations). Rosser has a few, too (there's a Supro-looking one that I'm really digging).

I tried a Godin Montréal Supreme which is a semi-hollow body. Didn't like feel of the guitar when I tried it.
Also tried a too expensive (for what it is) hollow body Duesenberg which sounded cool but not very versatile.

I've never been huge on the way Godins feel so
I've never been huge on the way Godins feel so I have a prestige http://www.prestigeguitars.com NYSS which is to me the perfect cross between a LP and a 335, neck is a little on the small side for me but still comfy

This one?

It's an all maple body... probably as trebelly as a tele?
It's a beautiful and well priced guitar.

They have other models... I'll check later.
You have P90 or Humbucker?
Work well with fuzz and high gain stuff?

Gagné has a used duesenberg imperial right now. Not to keen on the price but it could be worth trying. Or is that the one you tried?sylnau wrote:They have other models... I'll check later.

I tried it... it's the red one. But I don't like the "flashy" look of Duesenberg and they are way overrated.

Gagné is the only good store around here... but still too conservative on the regular brand.

My take on local stores is that Gagné is good people but kinda boring stuff. Then again it's still the best around because L&M-Gendreau is both snobish and boring and Denis musique is just a sad joke. Gagné also has some used unlike the other two, which is always a plus.
No clue what the stores on the rive-sud/suburbs look like but I'll never be bothered to check them out.

Re: My Telecaster (what would you do ?)
Thanks!
What are the cool shops in Ottawa? I find myself there once in a while but never went gear shopping.
I'll be in Chicago in April which might prove dangerous. Self-control will be mandatory.
