got a new computer today
windows 10 seems like a nice upgrade from XP my old computer was running
might look into interfacing my rig with the computer although my computer is on the second floor and rig is in basement...i'm totally clueless and assume computer needs to be near the gear? oh boy looks like i've got some researchin to do.

Why not just get a laptop/ipad to interface with your gear easily?

well, i've got a fully analogue studio with a tascam 388 that i've used for years along with a couple other reel to reel machines that i randomly use. never really had any interest in using the computer for recording. i've got an older laptop but the screen is busted. my computer finally died a couple weeks ago and i was using the laptop as a back up with my television as the screen and I don't have a TV with hdmi inputs in the basement. my ipad is a version 1, its got the max gigs but its randomly shutting down so its pretty useless anymore except for light browsing on ILF mainly. i've used my girl's ipad for recording demos but shes not too keen on letting me have at it haha.

hahaha, well even then it's nice to have something next to you that you can just have a DAW or something simple on to record stuff that comes through your head.

i've got my old trusty tascam portastudio 424 upstairs for when noodling around while watching tv etc, and i've got a couple other portable battery powered reel to reel tape recorders in other rooms of the house in case i get an idea or for taking with me on the go

but....now that ive got this fancy newfangled computeramajig it might be fun to look into interfaces etc. DAW? haha i have no idea what im doing

Hahahaha, I just got to cover Justin Bieber walking off after one song because the fans got in his way when he wanted to wipe some water off the stage. Got such an adrenalin kick, having to quickly gather info and write something in a couple of minutes. Life, man.
