CYST MODE

REVISED - AUGUST 2

Finally starting to whip these up. In case anyone doesn't know, the heart of the Cyst Mode is the Systech Overdrive which has been tweaked and expanded. As the V2 of the Cystech Filter Drive, the Cyst Mode is infinitely better. 4 fuzz modes instead of 2. And instead of a rotary switch selecting the fuzz modes and drive modes, a rotary is used just for the fuzz modes and the 1-4 settings on the Cystech are replaced with a pot so there's a lot more variation to be had. Also, this one can go into brighter ranges with the filter/eq control without oscillating immediately. There's a lot of gain so there is still some feedback and oscillation when the EQ knob is bright but overall much more range than V1.

Early bird pricing is $195 plus shipping in the US. For anyone outside the US, I am giving 5 dollars off since shipping is more and there's customs fees and shit so price is $190 plus shipping for foreign friends. US priority shipping is $15 and foreign shipping to be determined by location. Anyone can hit me up here, Instagram or you can email me at laowiz4046 @ gmail*&^

Here's some updated pics. I am sending a 8.5 x 14 inch "manual" with each one. I was going to email everyone a PDF but decided it might be nice to include as the boxes aren't going to be too fancy. Building up 30 yellow and white ones which some will be available to ship next week (as I get them done...) And then also about to order 10 more enclosures which will be black and white and blue and yellow. Will probably do 3 blue and yellow and 7 black and white. Those will be ready down the road.

Anyway, extremely happy with this one finally. There will be at least 3 demos but maybe 4 or 5 later in the month and in September and don't know how the response will be but we shall see.

Yea, I been sleepin on it for a long time. Have known what I wanted to do with the main circuit for almost a year and a half now but just needed to figure out the extra modes. Think I did that last November. It's a slow crawl with me for sure. Hopefully people will dig it. If I can get to sound just like the prototype setup I have which consists of the original board I made in 2018 that runs into an active tone control board it will be the best thing I ever make.

Oh man. THese look great!!!!
On your IG post, it looked like the Cyst v2 is large enclosure (this would be a very good thing!)
Cyster is a great name btw.

Thank you! I am pretty happy with how they came out. The toggle switch labels are reversed to what they should be on these tests so I had to tweak that. These are pretty big size wise, 1590XX size. I almost did these as BB sized enclosures but the knobs were too close together and the artwork would have beens scaled back so went big again. Cyster may never happen but probably should, it would be pretty much two of these in parallel, one side the filter and the other the fuzz modes.

Super hyped about this! :snax:

Any idea on dates, and how does this list work? Would definitely get on it.

Yo! Not sure on any kind of release date yet. I just finished building up a revised board that I hope to test tonight. My first board was a bit fucked even though I got it to sound pretty good with some tweaks and it was still not quite to where I wanted it to be so fingers crossed the new board sounds good. I basically need for it to sound like my very first Systech overdrive board that's connected to an active tone control board on my breadboard (there's also so other shit that's spliced in there). The setup sounds incredible and seems like an easy thing to do just putting both of these circuits on one board with the extras and a couple of switches but we shall see. Bulk of the enclosures of the main colorway for the first run should be about halfway finished so hope to receive them next week. I was going to do a bunch of different colors but will likely just stick to the Yellow and White / Intersound IVP vibe colors and then do a few of the neon-esque Blue and Yellow ones.

For the list it's pretty loose. Basically, anyone who has said they wanted one I will hit up first. I had reached out to Ian at Collector//emitter to do a demo back in Feb and he was going to do it but I couldn't get it finished. So hoping he will be able to do a demo at some point but will probably send them out if there's demand before that. I will be able to make them at anytime moving forward if the circuit ends up sounding a dope as I want it to. I am using a slightly fancier printer for the main run but they have a minimum enclosure order so if there's demand beyond I will keep printing with them but if I do smaller batches in different colors I will go with the printer I have been using for the tests. Anyway, fingers crossed!

And here's the latest board:

Welp, the new board is a go! I was expecting to have to do another revision, but looks like the changes I made did the trick. One of the 4 fuzz modes isn't quite there but I think I have a part installed backwards but other than that I am feeling good. I'll revise the original post with a diagram of the control layout. Basically, there's the original filter sound that is sounding a lot better and more hi fi, with no oscillation when the EQ control is turned bright and then with a flip of a toggle the original filter sound is disabled and a rotary control is enabled that offers the 4 fuzz modes. So 5 different sounds with controls to alter the texture. There's a couple of quick clips of one of the 4 fuzz modes here if you swipe right:

The fuzz modes are pretty sick. The first one which is mode 5 on the Cystech Filter drive was sounding quite as fucked up as it is supposed to. Even on the first version it sounds tame. The switching part of this circuitry makes me feel dyslexic as I double checked how everything was switching many times but it looks like reversed everything on the fuzz modes, which makes them all work just fine except for the 1st mode, changed that out and it sounds just like it should, too much bass to almost make it unusable.

Just got the invoice from the printer so enclosures should land soon. Looks like Ian / CE will be able to do a demo mid-August which should be pretty amazing. Also, PSQRCL who did the demo for the first one has resurfaced and is getting back into doing demos so going to get one out to him, as well.
