Everyone knows purpleburst is the best burst!
Greenburst comes in a close second.
Will look for prime examples.

there's definitely some truth to that. first 'burst I ever saw up close was on a crappy strat copy the guitar player in my first band had - I found it hideous. I've developed some affection for bursts, though, because I've got a taste for really old stuff and bursts were in there heyday back when....
I've never seen one, but I think my ideal burst would be a subtle fade between four or five closely related hues...too much damn work=too much damn money.
Worst burst to me is usually a stark two color with a dark ring around a lighter center....
Your NS is really nice...subtle like
Is it strung E-C or B-G or something altogether otherwise?

OK, let's get this outta the way, the tri-color burst from the 60s/70s is classic cheese for a reas…

Its a cello so they are tuned in 5ths, its supposed to be tuned F-A, but I didn't like playing in 5ths on the top end so I have it tuned funny, the middle string is G and going up it's in 4ths so C and F and going down from the middle it's C and F :lol and adding the fretts to the mix it's like playing a strange mixup of a cello and a viol da gamba

That isnt bad, to me cherry burst is mega-cheese... Not saying i havent owned a couple cherryburst basses... I like the idea of purple burst, and love blueburst, silverburst, greenburst and redburst, but are they sunbursts?

Yeah, you said cello

...sounds cool.

I have a Kydd (sp?) Carry-on that somebody loaned/gave to me and it has a 30" scale, which isn't a thrill to me since I started out on upright, so I've thought about tuning it in 5ths, just maybe with the bottom string to A or B instead of C since the scale is a little long for cello. But actually, mixing 5ths and 4ths makes sense to me since I like to tune guitars to stuff like DADGAD that mixes 4ths and 5ths (and a 2nd, lol)....
Also, dat Teisco
tangent alert
just noticed it's a Malinoski and pretty cheap, along with a few others. Most of his stuff's north of $3000. Interesting to see hex screws on a P90. I've got his DeArmond foil inspired pickups on my watch list

odd mix tunings are beyond fun, i really need to make something with five strings to be tunned strangely that isn't a bass or a guitar

I think bursts are neat. Here is my collection. I definitely don't go out of my way to buy burst guitars but it just seems to keep happening
