I saw the review of VCV in the last issue of Tape Op as well. meant to post something but am dumb. Haven't had time this week but want to try and sequence the VCV rack with a novation circuit. Hopefully this weekend.

I preferred the way that plugins/modules were accessed in v.05 vs v.06, but otherwise I'm about VCV rack.
I'll admit to being a dilettante to synth stuff, VCV has been easier for me to actually almost wrap my head around vs my couple of hardware synths and playing with random shiz on my iPad. If nothing else it's pushing me to be more proactive and thoughtful about noise, sound design, playing in general - more so than any piece of gear or tech in years.
Definitely considering putting together a small hardware rig built around the Expert Sleepers interface to start blending VCV with my iPad and amp worship experiments...
so i downloaded this and have been trying it out in my spare time at night. its such a great learning tool and is incredibly simple to slowly understand how everything works. realised really quickly how low-brow and low class my tastes are and that i am happy to just mess around with oscillators, delay, reverb, and fuzz all day, which tabletop stuff with pedals can do fine. I still plan on learning more and playing around with this though, as its really interesting and fun to do. highly recommend it
while the constant complaints about VCV being a resource hog and eventually starting to glitch and get static-y are justified, it's also instant/eventual william fucking basinski
Who's still using VCV (preferably with Host)? I'm curious which plugins people have successfully imported, in order to expand them. I can't run VCV on my current iMac, but I'm hoping with a 2021 ARM model, that I'll be able to run stuff like Valhalla Delay smoothly.
Have you tried the frame rate mod/hack? That made VCV much more usable on my old - 2012&2013 - mba & mbp. Works fine without modification on my hackmini.
Never got into VCVrack. Maybe too many options; Maybe I'm just raging at all the big computer modules overshadowing the bread and butter modules. I miss the nord modular
imagine finding out your son is your daughter & she's into noise music
A little disappointed that there is no Arbhar or Lubadh (yet?), but that is more than compensated by the fact that all of their 17 modules are free! https://library.vcvrack.com/?brand=Instru%C5%8D
