Hello all.

I've had a Bitquest for a little while and have mostly ran a bass through it for inbetween ambience during live shows.

I was playing with the reverb setting with guitar into a Vox AC4 yesterday and there seems to be a noticeable "shhhhhhhhh" kind of sound over the reverb while it is decaying. Then, if I turn the tone knob on my guitar to minimum and play a heavy chord, the reverb effect distorts.

Does anyone else hear a sort of "shhhhhh" sound in their reverb? Is it a product of the digital-ness of it? Other effects like the flanger and delay are crystal clear.

Even if I just have it set on reverb mode, when I switch the pedal on there is a burst of white noise or static or something. The bloom of the reverb is mostly white noise.

Yeah, might be a power problem. I was running my RRR through a cheap wall wart when I first got it, and it was really noisy—emailed Ryan and he recommended a quality, isolated supply. The noise is indeed gone if I use a 1 spot (powering just the RRR, no daisy chaining) or my PP2+.

I power it with a PP Mondo, so there shouldn't be a power problem. The anomaly persists with a One Spot as well.

It's not as apparent with the tone knob at minimum, but I always keep the tone knob at around 1 or 2 o' clock, and never noticed the anomaly before.

It's most obvious if I have a short reverb time, and put mix around 2 o'clock. If I palm mute lower notes, the reverb echoes in a kind of "shhhhhh" swash.

I emailed Ryan so we'll see what's up.

Also I'm using Gibson P-90s. I'll try to make a clip but I'm not too adept at that.

But the eq is an active treble control. So anything past 12 will be adding treble content (and noise).
Anyways, will check and report back.

Got an email back from Ryan with some helpful explanations. I think I need to just treat the reverb with a little more care and precision. The tone knob is probably the main factor here. Keeping it under noon or 11 does tame and warm the reverb. It's curious that the bit of noise is more apparent when I roll off the tone knob on my guitar, but I guess it's just that there's less initial treble present to combine with the reverb.

Yeah I find with the reverb on there that if the Mix is anything above 1:00, it sounds really processed. Around noon though with delicate use of Tone then it sounds heavenly.

Always keep the volume high and the mix low, regardless of setting. I've never noticed any hiss
