Ghost Echo mod?

Hi,

I use the Ghost Echo with bass, but I've found I can't raise the Depth much past 10:00 without the noise floor being too high. I'm curious if anyone has info on a mod to try to eliminate some of noisiness it emits. It is eluded to on a TGP post [1], but I don't find mention of it anywhere else. I've sent an email to EQD find out more but haven't heard back.

Pretty sure the Ghost echo is supposed to be like that. Might need to find a new reverb/echo.

Upon looking at the link...DigiTed, who posts here, mentioned he had Jamie mod it for free and it got rid of some noise...might not be the same noise you're talking about, idk.

can you actually hear the noise when you're playing at a gigging/rehearsing volume? or just when you're not playing? I can't imagine the signal wouldn't get above that noise floor when you're playing. Or the noise noticeable in context with the band.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The band I'm in has lots of dynamics, so in the really quiet parts it can be audible. Most of the time we're playing at a louder volume and it's not a problem. I just keep the Depth around 9:00 (but wish I could go higher) on the quiet parts to keep the noise down, and crank it up during the louder parts as needed. The noise certainly isn't a deal breaker, it's great for bass. I might just need to put a bypass looper in front of it to kill out the signal while we're not playing.

Well, there is no "mod" to remove noise from the GE. A lot of the noise is inherent in the digital reverb brick and it's compounded by the inherent noise in the delay line. Some GE's are dead quiet and some have more hiss than others. Nothing has ever struck me as unusable, I actually like the hiss because it's a little more authentic than a dead quiet and clean digiverb which is why I chose not to filter it out. If you want to send it in, I can take a look and see if there is more hiss than usual.
