So originalism and precedent are just different forms of 'fuck you'?

Probably not even then, given the intensifying systemic disenfranchisement.
If SCROTUS endorses independent state legislature theory, which they are absolutely going to do, then any partisan legislature can throw out election results they disagree with. This was the only thing stopping the GOP from tossing state votes for Biden and handing the election to Trump in 2020. It will be the end of what passes for democratic representation in this country.
American ILFers: please, please, please email and/or call your Representative, your Senators, and your Governor and ask them what their concrete plan is for avoiding this catastrophe. Let me know if you need any help contacting them, I am happy to show you.
If this goes through, there will be no chance of civic recourse for any of the other insane shit these Christian Nationalist fucks are ramming through. This is our last chance to avoid fascist rule in the USA.

Yeah, I'm no legal/constitutional scholar, but the Supreme Court is pretty fucked up right now.

Bingo. I've been harping on this with every step towards fascism the GOP has taken since Bush v. Gore and most of the time I was met with incredulity. Well, some of us have lived through circumstances in which the worst case scenario comes to pass, and some of us have lives where "everything works out in the end." The latter roll their eyes at you until calamity arrives, and then they ask, "how could this have happened??"

Lead in from anchor/host to reporter covering yesterday’s mass shooter: “What have we learned?”
Not a fucking thing.

Oh, the vanity wank candidates are coming out already?
First-past-the-post elections mean they’re useless as anything but spoilers unless one of the two major parties fails to field a candidate. It may suck, but you usually lose a game by flagrantly ignore what the rules say must be done to win.
