I am truly sorry but your blue dog queen was not a good choice and didn't prove a win against the orange troll due to your blue dog rabble allowing criminal gerrymandering to undermine the electoral collage making it become the opposite of its intentions.

Yeah.. and now back the same cycle as before spiraling downward to another Trump and another and another and another.. Because people like Biden ARE the REASON we live in a world where anyone took Trum seriously in the first place.. I'm so happy and stuff...

I’m excited as fuck to cast a vote that the Federalist Society doesn’t get to hand pick RBG’s replacement. People not being excited about that put two nihilist reactionaries on the court already.

Elections have consequences, so sometimes you need to settle for mitigating the damage.

I really wish that Arnold was born a US citizen. I'd vote for him to be President in a heartbeat.
Like, could you imagine a President almost as old as Trump but that can beat the shit out of all the other nations' leaders?

Electing a racist authoritarian over the wishes of the rabble is precisely the intention of the Electoral College. It exists because slave states knew they couldn't compete on a one man one vote basis.

There's nothing funnier than memes about what Washington or Jefferson would be most shocked/appalled by if transported into the future - because the real answer is allowing black people to vote.

So, I know that was part of its original intention but wasn't the Electoral College also made so bigger states wouldn't control all the voting power? Genuinely asking. I'll go Google as well.

I think the whole thing is fucked. Like the whole system.

In a way.
(IMO) The electoral college was designed to make sure that normal people couldn't have voting power. The founding fathers were pompous, rich assholes that didn't believe poor, ethnic, female, etc. people deserved to decide whether those very founding fathers could continue running the country. I would be money that those founding fathers would be foaming at the mouth if they knew that we had the audacity to allow black women that didn't own land to vote.
TL;DR: the electoral college is the last of voter discrimination which was written into the constitution, and it should be a thing of the past.

At the time of the first census, Virginia was the largest state (free and enslaved) - and seemingly half of the slave-owning assholes who designed this shit came from there. The Electoral College (and 3/5 Compromise) benefitted Virginia as both a large state and a slave state - in the 1792 election, it had something like twice the electors of any state but Massachusetts or Pennsylvania and 25% more than them - whereas if it had just been the most populous free state it would have barely had more juice than New York.

The Electoral College doesn't dilute the power of large states in the same way as the Senate.
