I really hate that I'm not surprised by this heinous fuckery, I'm sure in a month or two they'll ignore all sources and get these things full bore again.
Or worse, the microphone/speaker will go away from ankle bracelets but a subpoena will be placed to tap and listen in on the mics on your phone/TV/laptop/Alexa/fridge/Siri/dragon dildo/whatever. IANAL, but my understanding was that juveniles are more protected from surveillance than adults, so any of this could potentially be challenged in court.
Not to mention, Chicago already has a huge money problem - why are they wasting time and resources on expensive monitoring solutions that could be possibly illegal?
