Re: Let's see your AMP!

Story time:
Last month I answered a craigslist ad that said fifty bucks for all the music gear in this guys storage unit. I saw this peavey 2x12 and figuered if nothing else I could put some speakers in it and get my money's worth. Also included was this Kustom amp that used to be a combo and was crudely cut down to a head. The reverb tank isn't even mounted down. They are both grubby as hell and I didn't have much hope for the amp. Had some time today so I dragged them up from my basement and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME, THEY BOTH WORK! Can't turn it up much at home but I love the dirt channel on this thing. Pure 70's solid state sleaze and the trem even works.
I'm in love

Gives me hope for the other junk that came with: Two massive powered mixers - one peavey, one fender. We'll see...

Sweet garage shit! Put an AMT SS-11A in front of that powered mixer for some great distorted sounds!:gnomethrone wrote:

NAD!
Picked this funky guy up a few weeks ago over on madbean. The box was sound but wasn't my style so I did the best I could to make it look a little better with a belt sander and redid the grill cloth with a scrap I had. It's most likely a ~61 Teisco made for the Melody brand similar to the Teisco model 15 amp it seems. 2x6av6, 1x6ar5 and a 6x4 rectifier (7pin mini tubes!). Speaker was torn
but Parts express had a buyout replacement match for $12! I've never played an early champ but I assume that's what it sounds like, pretty awesome cleans with a little distortion when driven really hard. I traced the circuit into a schematic if anyone is interested since I couldn't find a matching one online.

Does this amp sound great with pedals?tommasters wrote:
I got this today. 300 Watts, super loud and light. Very cool
Does it sound great at very low volume (home beadroom level)?
300 W is a lot.

That Milkman is awesome, I always thought Hybrid amps sounded great.
curious as well about it's low volume abilities.

I looks like a Carvin. They are great, loud, and light ... I have two. Each is in a 2U rack case with a power conditioner.qersty wrote:Is that carvin poweramp(?) full or shallow depth? what is the rest btw? i cant tell for shitJohn wrote:OH HAI

The latest mini tower of heads and such (one of many shat attempts at using a full-sized camera again):

My solid state gear has been gathering dust since the Peavey arrived. I forgot how magical tubes can be, though will probably revert back to pro-solid-state sentiments when maintenance becomes necessary.
