i liked that shit so hard on ig. i thought it was a g-18 like i have.cherler wrote:I just picked up this G-100 a few days ago for super cheap. I really like it so far. I was looking for something quick to handle baritone better than the fender blues deluxe that's followed me since I first picked up guitar, and for the money I'm not sure I could have done much better.

I actually thought it was a g-18 in the store at first too. The 100w seems kind of crazy into a small 1x10" cab, and I think it actually breaks up at the speaker before anything. I'm gonna throw in an eminence beta 10a to experiment with that, hopefully it's sick!

100 watts is crazy for that little guy! yeah the 8" speaker in the g-18 can barely handle the amp being cranked, but it sure sounds sweet.

100 Watts? What kind of Power Tubes does it have? It must weigh like 100 lbs!

No tubes at all! It's solid state! I think it weighs maybe like 30-40lb?

Ah, well that makes sense. I just automatically assume tube when I see older Ampeg combos! Forgive my ignorance to this model!
This is the one I want:

Such a sweet unit.

New head day, I picked up this ampeg v4. Can't wait till practice tomorrow to open her up a little more. most of the writing on the control panel is gone. Converted to 6l6's. It's heavy but not much more than my mesa head.

Was that the Wood Soul rehoused V4 head? Because I remember my broke ass lusting over that reverb listing.lefchr wrote:New head day, I picked up this ampeg v4. Yeah , I live about a hour from gorham brothers, seen it before and wanted it, i saw it again going through old instagram posts asked if they still had it. Picked it up haven't been able to turn it up yet, but tomorrow.

Seems great with fuzz's already even at fairly quiet levels.

Being able to send a clean signal to the second channel really adds some extra thump to the sound when the fuzz is going!

Re: Let's see your AMP!
love me some weird v-4s.
mine is actually an early 70's vt-22 in a late 70's v4-b headbox.
i really dig loma's white v-4. if i ever get another v-4 maybe i'll strip and stain it. to match my 8x10. dealing with the metal corners is a pita though.
