The op makes some points (whether they are valuable or not is debatable) but his general tone is pretentious and judgmental. Not every noob with an FX pedal is going to know how to use it right of the bat. But if you are patient he/she'll figure it out eventually.
I think the argument that people use FX to cover up their short comings is a crock of shit. Everyone has something to offer and this holier than thou attitude towards younger or lesser players is elitist and douchey. It is always my hope that the people that guys like this criticize will one day blow the critic out of the water. (TL;DR = The Grasshopper Becomes the Master)
EDIT: Okay,...Komplete doesn't count. That band will never have anything to offer cept a bump of meth.
See the problem is,...if that guy had bothered to join TB before he made his purchase,...he would have found a valuable resource,...one that could have told him to go a different route for a xmas present. Instead he jumped head first without testing the water,...smashed his head on a rock then blamed the rock for being there.
Lead time problems with OLC are well documented. Fuck,..you go to his website and the homepage has a glaring red flag as the first thing you see. "Lead Times have Suffered...." "Prebuilt kits being subcontracted to a 3rd party". Translated this all means,...go to a local shop and buy a Boss/DOD/Digitech/EHX and leave the DIY stuff to when you don't have a xmas deadline.
Oh and that guy is hella entitled. I hate hella entitled, "I deserve X and you are going to give me X because I deserve it" customers. This guy seems to be under the impression that he is the only customer OLC has.

Only the first version ones will have the mojo to be sold for $500 a piece. I think you are right though,...we buy em all up and control the supply and only release a few at a time. Sheeple would pay $1000 a piece and be like, What happened to all the VTs? And we'd be all like .
Okay seriously; Apparently they are getting an update, which is an ingenious marketing strategy. Push a product into literally everybody's hands then in two years update it. Sounds like Apple's MO too (says the guy that just bout an 4generation iPod touch ).
Except computers actually need updating... this is a distortion pedal we're talking about. There's nothing in it that hasn't been possible for like 30 years.
Still brilliant marketing. EVERYONE WILL NEED IT.
Except people that like things that aren't boring.
I wonder if I could open up, plug in, then run to my computer and flip the new one as fast as I did the old one?!! Had to go down exactly like that in under 10 minutes!!
