This has been the case for decades, if not longer. Congress only campaigns to keep their jobs, not help the people the represent.

For instance, protest: you look at the organization and networking that goes in to your large protests, some of the people in the leadership rolls have been in place since the 60s (that's a long time ago) why have they never taken all that energy and "determination" and "resolve" and actually try to change the systems within the systems.. You know like the tea party has.. No.. I know lets all go protest the tea party.. We'll make some signs, get a permit, make a mix tape, pack a bong it's sad the the one good point Michael moor made was the ficus plant running for office bit on an offal truth.. In the 90s was one of the most poignant takes on this.

Maybe this belongs in the Connections Only You Make thread, but here it is. Trump was briefed earlier this week on the indictments Mueller issued yesterday, so he knew they were coming and he knew what was in them. Yesterday, during his press conference with Theresa May, he referred to the Mueller investigation as not just a witch hunt, but a "rigged" witch hunt. That was the first time I've heard him use the word "rigged" since he thought he was going to lose the election.

I think they really do believe in government - government of themselves, by themselves, and for themselves, that is.

That would be the difference of governing vs ruling...

Also, just gonna throw this out there before Trump claims he thought of it himself: We should turn control of the FBI over to the Russians.

I don't think there's any denying at this point that Trump is a Russian agent. And I mean that as comprehensively as possible. There's just no other explanation for the level of sabotage he's wrought upon the US while stroking Putin's genitals.

I agree 100%, he is Putin's puppet. It's been apparent all along, but I think now it is undeniable, except to those members of his base who live in a constant state of denial.

Now we'll see whether the Republican-controlled Congress will have the guts to do anything meaningful about it, or whether they will just put out statements.

What I want to know is who's puppet is Putin?

Why would they? He's a rubberstamp Prez who will greenlight nearly ANY conservative platform, as long as he gets a cut.
