The Dimehead doesn't come with the drone or momentary, right?
I also don't have a clue what those add ons do, can anybody explain me or is there a video that explains this? (I haven't found one yet)
One other thing I don't understand is, if you build a clone, why not put an extra footswitch in to switch the multiplier and divider in or out so you can also just use the fuzz and kick in the other stuff on top of that?
That seems like a logical thing to do.

When I eventually build mine I'll definitely put the multiplier/divider on a footswitch. Also, will put the drone as a footswitch, it creates a howling nasty additional sound. I wonder when the fuck I'll finish it.

yaha its been done
i think thats what the momentary does
the skunk version has a off switch just for fuzz
i think the c/w switch on some of the units turned the divider off

So the momentary is basically an external footswitch that switches the multiplier and divider on or off?
I know some units have regular switches, but it would be cool to have that footswitchable I think.

Pretty sur that's it. I think the original Schumann had one footswitch. With a bigger box you could fit 3-4 footswitches.

Ah, thanks, I actually might prefer it the Schumann way then since it saves pedalboard space.

Weird to call it momentary though as there seemingly is nothing momentary about it, or the switch could be momentary but that would be a bit weird too I guess, could be cool though, pop in one of those VFE footswitches that are switchable between momentary and latching.

The original Momentary footswitch is just that, momentary. There are two versions of it as well. Version 1 consisted of two toggles, and the footswitch. Version 2 consisted of four toggles, and the footswitch. I believe the shortcoming of version 1 was that it was active for both the Multiplier and Divider from the moment you plugged it in. Version 2 gets around this by including two more toggles to enable/disable either side. The two other toggle are for flipping the function of the footswitch (ON/UP, OFF/DOWN, or OFF/UP, ON/DOWN).
Thats why I decided to incorporate it into the same box. I can completely disarm it via the two toggles. Also, from I gather, since the Drone function creates an oscillation from the 4046, the Momentary can come in handy for cutting the set tones in/out of the mix. Again, one box to rule them all.
May I add, the Drone function is something quite nasty as well, in a great way. Set up right, I found that you can intertwine notes, tones, and sound into a beautifully orchestrated cacophony. It`s truely the tip of the iceberg.
Gonna be really tough to shoot a short video of this sucker. I think I`ll have to do it in chunks, and paste them together.

I can't wait to get dem boards. I can take my uglyface off and use this and do so much more...not that I hate the uglyface.

Thanks for the info guys!
It seems like a switchable momentary / latching footswitch would be the coolest but that doesn't make things easier offcourse.

Good news folks!
I tried both an MM74C14N, and a CD40106BCN in place of the SN74HC14N. Both are good between 3vdc to 15vdc, and both work fine. Between them and the 74HC14, I don't hear any difference at all, and functionality is the same. Maybe better. I think a get more of a difference between settings, but then again, I've been wearing the headphones on this thing for the last 3 days, so I might be getting PLL deaf by now. Also, I've cranked the voltage up to +/-12vdc. Everything works perfect.
I recommend going with this IC, unless you wish to be uber-precise where the clone is concerned. Personally, I'm leaving the MM74C14 in there, and running it at 12vdc. One of those moments of folly where I decide to stray from the original.
I was at ABRA Electronics today, and I came across this 12vac 800ma power adapter;
http://www.abra-electronics.com/products/AC%252d12800%252d2.1-Wall-Adapter-12VAC-800mA-%252d2.1mm.html. I bought one, because the in-store price was $2.99. Yeah, you read right... $2.99! With the right plug and everything. I tried it tonight, and it works fine.
Also, I tried a 2.2M resistor for R6. I dunno, I might be having sonic hallucinations, but it didn't sound as good to my ears. I put the 1M back in. Here's a video I shot, this is with the 2.2M resistor, and the SN74HC14N chip. It's a mishmash of knob twiddling, and general sonic mayhem, but there's some decent stuff in there as well. I'll do another one with the stock 1M in R6, and the MM74C14N.

OK, here's a recording I did. The chain is - Guitar into a BR-600, with a touch of reverb added for ambiance.
http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12395052&q=hiThe recording is divided as follows;
- 0:00 - 0:08 - Clean guitar (neck pup, single coil).
- 0:08 - 0:28 - Fuzz only.
- 0:28 - 1:04 - Multiplier only (switching through each interval, low to high).
- 1:04 - 1:37 - Divider only (switching though each interval, high to low).
- 1:37 - 2:43 - Multiplier and Divider (switching both together as the previous sound bytes).
- 2.43 - 3:42 - Fuzz / Multiplier / Divider combo.
- 3:42 - 4:54 - Fuzz / Multiplier / Divider / Looping combo.
- 4:54 - 6:07 - Fuzz / Multiplier / Divider / Drone combo.
- 6.07 - 7:11 - Fuzz / Multiplier / Divider / Drone / Looping combo (switching intervals at the very end).

Treated myself to one of the KO Amps PLF (Fuzz only) pedals. This is me messing around with it, Looping with the Ditto and Drones with the Freeze.
I LIKE it!
