Thanks Mud. I took a look through the Fernandes Japanese site. Although they have the EB3 copies, they only have Pink which is not my thing and Black,...which is cool, but I'd rather have the Heritage Cherry.

I know you have the Flying V copy. How did that work out financial wise. I don't know if you created a thread about it, but did you have to import it? Of so what was the process and what did it cost? PM me if you don't want to publicly divulge.

That said,...I have a feeling that my wife may have pick that Aria up under my nose as a dastardly sneaky Christmas present; although she says wishes she was that sneaky. I call BS, but I'll have to wait a few weeks and see.

Shipping and import fees were $130 on the V, on the SG too actually... I think I paid $700 for the V plus the shipping. I still feel it was a great deal on a used bass, mainly because it just plays and sounds so good, I not joking when I say it smokes every new gibson bass I've ever played, it is a monster. And When you look at the cost at a Gibson one.. 2K+...

Although I think ~850 is a fair price for an equivalent or better than an overproced Gibson (never played a Gibson bass that I liked),...it's still a little too rich for my blood considering I still need to buy another cab (3 more actually) and I'm on the prowl for a tube amp still,...and I need to invest in some better pedal power supplies,...and,....and,...

 :thumb: I hear you. But then the last bass I bought before it not counting buying parts for frankies and building my own was in 99 and that is the most I've ever payed for a bass guitar :idk: I had just gotten my tax return and it was a V and it was black and I clicked.. and hoped I didn't just make a big mistake...

Whew. Sorry I'm late to the party. This place is awesome, much more casual than TB.

Yes,...and the fact that people are allowed to be abrasive here seems to cut down on the passive aggressive know it all dick level grammar patrol that is so prevalent on TB. When it comes to TB I've been pretty much living in OT only. TBFX is nothing but a VT Bass circle jerk.

The reason why I love ILF as apposed to TB.

1) we get to be raging internet goofballs
2) So many good pedals ......ugh
3) and most importantly almost everyone here seems to be about the music they are trying to produce rather that just massive gear hoarding. I get more inspired to play my set up here than when I was reading talk bass all the time. Bonus that almost everyone here is mega ultra rad +10 and I would more than likely hang out with all of them.

But when I saw Mudfuzz, Nad, bigcheifbc, warwick.hoy and a few other of my favorite posters stop posting on TB and post here the majority of the time, I figured this is my new home.

I got an aria pro 2 bass at a pawn shop for like 100 bucks. It was one of the models the dude from duran duran and chronos from venom and cliff burton used. REALLY good bass.

Absolutely hits the nail squarely on the head. Most of the TBFX posts seem to revolve around preamps,...tone improvement,...compression,...that sort. Not that I'm opposed to these, but they aren't really effects and you still have to wade through all that crap in order to find anything unique and worthwhile. It just seems like actual effects are just a footnote in TBFX. Granted I'm in a band where FX aren't necessary, but for my other band I couldn't do what I do without Fuzz and other effects, and that just doesn't seem to be the general consensus over there.

Outside of TBFX there seems to be a lot of fools with their money. "if you had $5000 to spend on a bass would you get,...." is a current topic. I mean really,...unless you are a professional musician why on earth would you spend $5000 on a bass just to have it hang on your wall,...or play bar gigs in cover bands, when a mid priced CIJ/MIJ Fender or MM, or any number of reasonably priced instruments would fit the bill. Are you a collector or a player? I'd be scared shitless to take a fancy booteek bass out on any gig that I play and it would seem such a waste to drop all that money on something you have no intention of ever using as it was intended.

Most pros I've seen play the cheaper instruments, it's the hobbyists with good paying jobs that blow $$$$$$$$$$ on a pile of fancy basses. I mean I always knew this, but now that I work in Tha Biz, it has been confirmed. Most of our customers are everyday dudes, it's only a small amount of them that are pros.

Speaking of crap I don't need, anybody want to buy my Ric 4003? I think I hit the last breaking point when I realized in order to install strap buttons that WON'T DROP THE FUCKING BASS ON THE FLOOR I have to remove the stock ones, fill the holes, and then screw in an entirely decent system.

PS: Yes I know they are supposed to fit Schaller straplock buttons. They don't. :picard:

PisS: The stock strap buttons are too small for even The Grolsch Method, they just pop right off. :picard: :picard:

Chuck the screw in a drill and grind the head down in till it fits in the straplock of your choice... I done this before, can't remember why but know I have...
