Re: The Netflix Thread
Came back from work to find my fiancee binge watching friends. Ended up joining her tru rachel giving birth.

Also decided that Death Note: Netflix edition is a solid addition to my "good shit movies" collection. When its viewed as a seperate universe from the anime and Japanese films its better. And the way they did L was solid.

Re: The Netflix Thread
I remember No Ordinary Family being kinda campy, but holy shit, the writing is so fucking bad.
It's like they decided to get a new writer every episode, and all those writers were brain dead drug addicts that were pulled off the street the day before they had them write the episode and they just told them "it's like Heroes but it's a family and they're all morons".
The acting is almost as bad, but it's hard to tell whether that's just because the scripts were so awful they had no idea what to do other than act like the worst possible clichés they could possibly think of or if the actors never acted in their life before the show.

When you realise theyre trying to make a bad Nickelodeon style cartoon about talking vaginas you get over that pretty quick.

Re: The Netflix Thread
Man, on top of the acting being bad in The Gifted, the writing is super hokey, too.
But seriously, how are these actors so bad? Even the actors that are normally solid are doing poorly.
Also, Ghosted really would benefit from being an hour long.

Watched Bad Batch on a whim. Was pretty entertaining in a B movie sorta way... complete with super hot half eaten chick and porn- stached Keanu Reeves.

Re: The Netflix Thread
I watched the second episode and I honestly cannot figure out what the show is supposed to be. I can describe the premise and style of humor, but the actual style of the show, structure and shooting style wise, makes zero sense to me. I know that's probably overly analytical, but people who make TV shows DO think about that stuff, so I find it weird.jrfox92 wrote:Man, on top of the acting being bad in The Gifted, the writing is super hokey, too.

EDIT:
A good example is NTSF:SD:SUV. That is a joke show, on a similar type of format (but more action/spy/procedural drama focus), it's a quarter hour format and it hits the style and structure perfect for what it's trying to do. It's like watching a highlight reel of a show like that, where the premises are all outlandishly absurd, but the characters take it dead seriously like they would in those type of shows.

I'm enjoying it, but am inclined to like everything Marvel mutant-related. Definitely some massive echoes of Heroes, though, in tone and plot points. This show seems to have some sense of destination, at least.

I watched that last week on a whim as well. It was decently entertaining. I was really surprised by the soundtrack, they used like half of the Darkside album.dandy13 wrote:Watched Bad Batch on a whim. Mr. Robot season premiere is tonight. Right now actually. I’m
Hoping it gets back to season 1 quality. Season 2 was fine, but a big drop off IMO.

Re: The Netflix Thread
You should. It's good. Season 3 looks real promising, if it can keep up the momentum from tonight. One of the things I've liked about this show, with all its twists and turns, is that it was presented to networks as a complete 3-act arc. So it's not just presenting things and then trying to figure out how to get there, or wasting the audience's time because it got popular and has more time to kill.
