Ah I see... yeah price gouging definitely happens everywhere. It's almost like some musicians are just assholes or desperately need money for drugs (or maybe an expensive dog), lol. I'm looking at two FZ-2s locally now , one is €300 and the other is €500. More common ones go for €40-60, which is fair. I guess if you really can't live without an original FZ-2 and the stoner clout that comes with it, go for it, but to me it's just stupid.

So, like....is it ok if this is a reality but it's like for weed. Cause like, depending on the area, it's not really a drug. LOL.

LuL, no Jwar I do not consider weed a drug, it is my medicine of choice and it's not like I do dabs all day (tho maybe I would if I could). That being said I've never been in a situation where I'm so desperate for it I need to sell off gear... more like there is nothing to be found, oh well. Was thinking more about people who are genuine addicts, which I do have sympathy for but not to extent where I'd be like 'take all my money for this rare pedal!'. Or someone who already has plenty and just want to earn as much as possible from whatever they sell, which I don't have any sympathy for.

I don't really care what people do with their dollas at the end of the day, just don't want to play a part in that weird collector/consumerist race to own as many exclusive items as possible.

So, I'll be honest. I have an issue with addiction for sure but it's with pedals. It seems all nice and dandy but like, it hurts me financially and I kind of end up digging holes for myself without realizing it. I'm not sure if that's because I'm bipolar or just stupid. I recognize the behavior but I've struggled with it for over 2 decades now (I used to compulsively buy other things regardless of income level I was at).

Take for instance this whole pandemic thing. I should have been saving every single dollar I had or got, but when I'm depressed and down I often window shop. Then I impulse buy something I've just got to have and have instant regret. Probably have instant regret 9/10 times. Mostly because I knew it was irresponsible and it happens so rapidly for me when I'm elated that it's hard to stop. I've been able to before and it's getting better in some respects and worse in others.

So, I have tried to tone down this behavior but I still feel like I'm a slave to it as well. I recently bought a T-120 when there was a drop release, which is the exact sales tactic that I dislike. Yet I participated because I was curious and wanted to try a pedal that people won't stop reselling for excessive amounts. It got here, it's fun, but honestly, I think the Rubberneck is fine for me and I have that, so like, why did I buy that? It doesn't even really fit my playing style well. Sigh.

At least you like buying pedals. I don't. I don't even think I actually like pedals anymore. But They are a necessary evil to being able to create interesting soundscapes with a bass/guitar/othernoncomputerkeyboard-synththingy... fucking tone chasing

Luckily it's not a frequent thing for me and hasn't happened for years but there was a time in my life when I was really down and frequently impulse bought stuff I couldn't properly afford (clothes & pedals). Thankfully the worst thing that happened money-wise was not paying one credit card bill on time, but a few months of running out of money in the last week before payday... It sucks and I understand the impulse. You just gotta keep trying I guess. Hang in there!

It seems like the Moog Pedals are also in the hands of collectors now, that try to make money from them... today I saw a Minifooger Chorus on the local classifieds for almost 600€
I think it's a trend like collecting stamps or coins, where you hope that your collection increases in value over time... who knows, maybe those pedal collections will then also be inherited from generation to generation and maybe even used as a bank security when buying a house?
I'd much rather see my creations out in the field, beeing used to make music than sitting in some collectors' shelves The problem with those marketing schemes like "special run" "limited quantity" etc. is that it appeals to the collectors because it raises the collecting value by being more "exclusive". I bet if Boss did a limited run of some stupid pedal tuner or the line selector, they would be all over that shit too...
