I thought it might be that, and that is AMAZING. Seriously, a bigsby only on the top 3 strings?

Ryan wrote:Well, it's that time of year again, time for a birthday treat, and I've been awfully good this year...
So I talked one of my retail partners who also sells EGC into doing a trade with me... after several days of work and many Elements, lookie what I earned...
EGC baritone.JPG
30" scale baritone tuned to low A, single coil pickers, shiny aluminum everywhere. It sounds unlike any guitar I've ever heard, so big and deep and rich and clear and bright and just so powerful with so much sustain... it's deeply moving. I'll be a huge fanboy for life now.
It has the thin neck and I love it, perfect for these huge frets. I'm really blown away by this thing... already planning on having Kevin put an aluminum neck on last year's birthday Jazzmaster...
So thank you to all you guys who fueled my EGC fires, I love you for it!
well done dr ryantist! did you make him throw in a pizza?

Sounds like a plan, we have very similiar taste in guitars. here are my 2 customs

tarpitcarnivore wrote:Ryan wrote:
tarpitman, are you going for the style on the right or left? And your slab of wood will be like the one on the left? I did that with my guitar too, haha, had a pic of it up for over a month!
its a mixture of the two. RD style body with german carve on left side of body only, and block inlays (on the right) and the stained wood finish with pickguard (on the left). nothing special about the electronics. i thought about doing some jazz/jag style switches, but i just wanna keep this one simple and see how much i like it. if i am as enthralled as i am hoping and expecting to be, i will be a returning customer, and probably will get a guitar similar to Kurt Ballous (pictured below)

ordered it in Bangkok, Thailand.
the shop is called Aliceia, it's a one man custom guitars shop, the guy there is not taking any orders anymore (sadly).
this RD outdid ALL my other guitars (most of them are gibsons & fenders.)
the EGC is def from another planet so i can't compare

Oh man, you guys are really making me want one of these too. I'd love one of Hi-Flyer styled ones with P90s and a Jazzmaster trem. Too much money for me right now though, but I do have my 30th birthday coming up in a few months, maybe I'll figure out some way to get myself a hell of a present by then.
Ryan, if I'm ever in Edmonton I need to come try out that beauty you just got. And happy belated birthday.

I will always love the "Play This Riff" video of said song. Seeing as it is so appropriate to post in this thread, I went to find it, but it appears it's no longer up.
Anyways, you don't really have to be very skilled. just a quick mock-up of something dealing with the pickguard and knobs!!!

on the one hand, i'll bet it sounds like the Hammer of the Gods. on the other, i'm afraid you'd need a forklift to hold it up.

Just imagine the edge the aluminum gives to that badass mofo!
But yeah, 12-stringers tend to be neck diving bastards. I had a weight to balance my 12-string Hamer in the end of the strap.
