Just when I thought I don't need any more dirt (for a while) I stumbled across a reasonably-priced DOD Thrash Master. Gotta experience the might (or the lack of it) first-hand. I'm pretty good at resisting new releases (Roger That I had to get as it resonated so well with what I want and what I am/was looking for) but old interesting ones keep popping up regularly as well.

would this work with a 3.5 mm to 1/4" adapter into a regular input? perhaps into a mixer or switching pedal?

interesting stuff about the Demedash T-120 that's coming...Music Go Round emailed me to say that when they tested the box before shipment they found that the tap tempo light wasn't working. i wasn't expecting a tap tempo light at all, so i looked and sure enough i got a v1 Deluxe for $260. i'd call that an unqualified win, considering that the regular v1 usually goes for $100 more than that. as long as the tap tempo function works who needs the light? and if it winds up bothering me i can take it up with Demedash. that'll delay it a couple of days, but i don't really mind because the FEB is the lowest item on my priority list and i won't really get to put it together until the SHSL arrives which won't be for weeks yet.

the Keeley Realizer is allegedly arriving today...it left Indianapolis at 5 AM and is now in Richmond. it was picked up in Osaka around 5:45 yesterday afternoon. damn. the Strobostomp and 6165 pan pedal are supposed to be here tomorrow, so assuming i'm home tomorrow evening the main board will be dun-da-dun-dun-done by 8 or 9 PM. Laney tubes haven't shipped yet.

I have one and I like it a lot. AFAIK it’s a bunch of Jfets in series, so it goes from very light gain to very fuzzy. It’s not chaotic or ugly like the unpleasant surprise or four eyes, but it does gated stuff pretty well. I use it more like a heavy overdrive than a fuzz. It definitely likes drives and boosts before it for best results.
Sounds fun! I like dirt pedals that a mix of overdrive/distortion/fuzz sort of all at once. Does it have mids or is it kinda scooped?

The only reason I’m not frantically selling pedals I convinced myself I like less than the Science pedal to fund the purchase is because I literally just got an actual Science amp. Given EAEs pedigree making preamps this thing probably sounds amazing. I am surprised there’s not more talk of it here though.
This lil' Mofo is of interest. But sold out of its limited avail. So I guess my discussion-contribution is of no avail.

The promo-demo vids are more widely available and numerous than the pedal itself it seems.

These videos say "Includes paid promotion" but should instead say: "Includes paid FOMOtion".

To quote limp bisquik: "I did it all for the FOMO, so you can take that puny promo and stick it in your SEO major-domo".

Now that I got that off my chest, I will say that the Channel A (low gain) of the EAE Mother preamp sounds pretty great.
Lots of sculpting to get the gritch and grit and itch where you want it while maintaining some chord-clarity where you
need the wires to hang the grub to cure.

Does this do anything that a Kuro Exegol can't do?

Or more importantly, could a person that has a bird in the hand possibly keep his eyes from darting towards the bushes
where flashes of uncertain somethings frolic with prolific allure and panache?

the Realizer is in. got here from Osaka in 22.5 hours accounting for time differences. i'm impressed. the Strobostomp should be here tomorrow, and after that barring some extreme development i'm declaring the main board layout closed. since the second Ernie Ball pan pedal is also arriving tomorrow, after i run through the Realizer settings and scope out the Peterson tuner i'll go straight to revamping the looping board which will require moving stuff already on there around and swapping power supplies with the FEB so the looper PS can hide under the deck. i'll have to re-signal cable the right side of the board where things got moved/changed and run DC power cables to everything. but that's more of a pain in the ass than a major problem. so 2/3 of everything will be done by this weekend.

i'm getting to the end of the list of stuff needed for the boards and looping project. the main thing i need now is a bass amp and a crossover so i can biamp the loops. i'll probably order the speaker and cabinet Friday when i get paid and look for a good head.

got the main and looping boards sorted. now i'm waiting for the Demedash T-120 Deluxe v1 and Analog Music Co. So High So Low for the FEB, after which i hope to god i'm done buying effects stuff for awhile. i need to figure out how everything works and sell stuff to recoup some of my investment...i bought several boxes that didn't work out as well as everything that did.

i ran across a really good demo of the Roger That. it's really long, but she has it dialed. it's three or four notches too broken up to fit my aesthetic, but if i wasn't packed to the gills on all the boards i'd have to think about it anyway.

I quite like the cyberattack demo too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXiRi7ctPMY

It's a bugger to dial in, but you can get some gnarly noise from it. Mine lives on my desk in my mixer send, which I mostly use on synths.

i needed to do something to make myself feel better because Becky's in the hospital again, so i ordered my bass rig. i got a 350W Ampeg B2R head and a Univox UB250 1x15" cabinet with what appears to be the original CTS speaker. the head was $219, and the cabinet was $120. with tax and shipping, $438. bass on a budget! needless to say, everything in the house that can be run through the 15 will be. organ sounds on the Casio should be particularly nice.

Nice :)

The yellow Tele is still on the way from Japan (not dispatched yet) so I've bought a couple of purple Squiers to tide me over ;)

The darker metallic one won't arrive until next week but a Sonic Esquire arrived last week, along with a Railhammer Billy Corgan sig. pickup and now looks like this:

did it come with a humbucker bridge, or did you add it?

They come with a humbucker bridge, though I did have to file it a bit to make the pickup fit as it was too tight for one with a cover.

It came with a black scratchplate too, but I like white ones with dark body colours and/or dark fingerboards.

that's definitely better than a black guard, and with that shade plain white works better than the shaded options, i think.

i decided to take the Realizer off the main board and put the Catalinbread Soft Focus back on. the Realizer is really cool, but it doesn't do "subtle" well at all. its best settings are so over-the-top that it'd be hard to find applications for them on what is still the relatively normal board. its Soft Focus patch is really extreme; the Catalinbread modulation sounds like a Yamaha reverb, while the modulation on the Realizer setting goes so deep and fast at its highest setting that it's almost a Leslie sound. it's also got a sort of bright edginess to it that i'm not crazy about. the reverse setting, it turns out, is not the SPX90 patch but based on a MidiVerb II patch instead, so it doesn't do the "Slow" sound much to my disappointment. i'm having a hard time figuring it out. i need to quit thnking about what it should do and work out what it does. the hall-with-shimmer setting is less obnoxious shimmer-wise than one would fear, but with the shimmer dialed out the actual reverb is kind of bland and flat. i moved it to the FEB, where it'll do nicely for chewing up the lo-fi signal into cathedrals of static and grime. i guess that when you design a reverb to be run before fuzz for the MBV Effect it winds up being less suited to general use; it's made to cut through a wall of racket, not be the racket. i love shoegaze, but i do not get the attraction of that sound. to me it just turns everything to mud.
