Looks like just that. Sounded good so far, but I only had the chance to hear a little bit of it through headphones.
Gone Fission wrote:Wish I had picked up an R2DU before they got silly expensive. It’s kind of silly to use up a full rack space on so little, but very cool. Two Rats seems totally legit.
I read somewhere that the Deucetone has its origins in the 19'' unit. It's neat that the two footswitches are quite close together so you can easily switch one channel off and activate the other one without any problem. It will do a great job on stage, I'm sure.
Yeah, poking around I saw that the Deucetone was crammed into the housing that the R2DU used for the footswitch, which seems much more space efficient than both pedal and rack if you’re gonna use the floor unit. If the core bypass is the same as a Rat 2 of the era, you could have remote switching of a R2DU from whatever brain of the day (CAE, GCX, Rocktron) without wasting a bypass loop or two and putting aside the dedicated switch (explaining why more than a few are missing), so I could see the lingering appeal in a heavily automated rig.

Put in a pre order for a Schecter dUg Pinnick DP-12, the next run is suppose to be in April/May, 12s have always been far and few between but the prices on used ones are getting silly and I don’t want a dean.

I received another BOSS FZ-2 a while ago. It arrived in a very crazy condition.
For an unknown reason it was rehoused in a baby blue chassis of a BOSS CH-1. The Level potentiometer was replaced with a wrong type. One knob was missing, one was from another BOSS pedal. The original FZ-2 serial number was attached to the bottom with tape strips.
Luckily this Frankenstein-FZ-2 hasn't been modded. Apart from the wrong potentiometer everything else is original.
I replaced the potentiometer and I found two original black BOSS knobs with knurled shaft in my box with spare parts as well as original washers for the jacks. I removed the paint of the blue chassis with extra fine steel wool, which was a very tiresome work. But it came out very nice!
I'm quite proud of the result. The Mode knob is crackling a bit from time to time, but everything else works fantastic again!

Wacky! The result is pretty cool, I actually really like the look of the bare BOSS enclosure, I'd be tempted to do the same to the actual FZ-2 bit

if you have a way of getting the text back on...

I quite liked the look when it was a Frankenstein, but the refinished version looks sick as.

I have seen BOSS enclosures with the colour sanded off before and the results always looked ugly. I hoped that I could do it better. The only problem with the bare enclosure is that I have done it so properly that you can see traces of your fingerprints on it. I think it will look pretty pretty on someone else's pedalboard. I'm going to sell it on or trade it in for something cool.

Mesa amps have some fucking balls for Bass rigs - always loved the sound they produced.
What type of speakers do you have in this ?

I picked up this the other day:
It came with the plain plate and Tele neck pickup underneath because that's all I wanted. I also bought a new control plate with angled switch slot and swapped the knobs for black because the ones it came with had pearl tops and they made me feel uncomfortable
I wasn't sure about the colour scheme (painted by the previous owner's wife) but really didn't want to remove it all and start again, so I've had a little play with some acrylic paint pens and ended up with this:
I think I like it

So I got an Alesis Micro Limiter in the post today. I bought it mostly hoping it would come with a power supply that would also work with my Midiverb II. The seller didn't have the original PS, but included one he said would work (except for the plug, which I will replace with a mini jack). It looks to be the right spec for the limiter, but unfortunately it's only 300mA, whereas the Midiverb needs 1500mA I believe. Hate how difficult/expensive it is to find the right PS for those things, but whatever, I did need a comp/limiter and hopefully it will work once I solder on that plug.

I just finished reparing my recently acquired Pro Co Deucetone RAT.
The unreliable footswitches were replaced with good quality switches by Alpha. I also replaced both OP070 opamps with the legendary LM308.
The design of the Deucetone RAT is not too service-friendly. To get access to the circuit boards the rivets of the mode selector switches had to be drilled off. I used black screws with hexagonal nuts to retain a similar look. Last night I spent three hours with the desoldering and replacement of the ICs and footswitches and with the fiddly reassembling of the pedal.
But it was totally worth it! The new footswitches work perfectly and the pedal sounds awesome. To my ears it sounds a bit better with the LM308 and personally I think that the tone is more lively this way.
