Ned was in a flames shirt. He's my dude, love that guy. He doesn't ever complain about me playing MBV in the amp room.
Completely agree with the call of simply buying a new guitar at that price, plus the mid range fender player stuff can be had for 600-800 used and they are all really good instruments.
I also agree. It's also no fun just buying a normal replacement guitar neck. Now you have the option to do something crazy with the old guitar. Like get a 12 string neck and bridge. Or a baritone neck.

You’d have to do some surgery to mount a 12 string bridge on a trem-routed Strat. So go bari. Or a conversion neck to a shorter scale if that’s your thing.

Word at least was that the Allparts necks had been from the same source as Fender Japan used. If you ever wanted a non-sprayed finish neck, those go less than $400. A few profiles and options if you want something a little different.

SurfyBear Metal and Walrus 385 arrive today. Waiting for the JHS Cheese Ball to arrive at my local guitar shop. My Surfgaze project is about to get serious.

Because I have the latter and apparently they're selling for stupid money, figure I could sell it and get the smaller cheaper one with a power input (even though the cheese wedge form factor fucking slaps).
Probably. I dont see why they wouldn't make it a legit octavia with the same font and all
That's what I was thinking too! I may proceed with this plan.
Alternate thought: the Billy Gibbons version of the cheese wedge adds DC power jack and 7 band graphic eq and seems to still be available for less than used OC-1s are going for.

I have no experience with any of these, though, so I may miss a substantial downside of the BFG version.
Also a good idea! I think the only downside is the tribal tattoo graphic, but I have steel wool and white paint.
Ended up getting the MXR Octavio for a decent price. I did a side-by-side and it does sound a little different. There is a little bit of a boost in the MXR's midrange around 600Hz or something like that. I'm running the MXR on a power supply and the Dunlop with requisite battery though. I'm not sure if that matters. The MXR sounds good though.

I have to vent my GAS for my Dunable DE - such a great instrument. It makes me so hot and heavy for a USA one which I will probably end up buying some time this year. I am going to take it in to the luthier this week to set it up and I will probably get an esitmate to throw some of the "regular" pick ups that Dunable stocks.

The Walrus Audio 385 is the exact overdrive I've been craving. It nails that 'pushing a little tube amp way too fucking hard' sound I've been needing. A true joy to play with.

The SurfyBear Metal is everything they advertise. I'm a Strat guy looking for drip and splash, so it is perfect for me. Can't imagine playing without it. If you don't use spring reverb to the point of abuse, I don't know if it is worth the entry cost, but the tactility and bounce are something digital has never been able to provide me.

Nice! The Magick "i" is still my favorite OD ever! How do you like the flutter?

Spider V 412 mk2 on the way...freeshipping slower than death across most of the damn continent. Gonna run my 2 little Hotone heads in stereo, just for starters (5150 and Friedman clones).

Well fuck ......

I didn't expect to buy a Part Garden but I just did. Plus I am helping homie Laowiz out and its custom etched!

My Cyclops R2 is heading into 12th fret today for a full set up - I am going to pull the trigger on getting an upgrade to the tuners / machine heads but I could save some money if having it correctly set up helps tuning. I am also scheming to drop in some of Dunables pick ups that are not the stock Cthulu's - I am leaning towards more of the Grizzly set but it seems like they all could rock fucking hard.

This is also a good time to re bond with my EVH striped guitar, I still do really enjoy playing it but there are so many delicious instruments out there. GAS is fucking with me hard to trade it in towards something more expensive or better but I have to resist! If money is as good as it is this year, I am probably going to by either another DE ( the r2) or just say fuck it and place my deposit an actual Dunable

Thanks...I was having a hard time not making a move on that one...though looks like I'll be exploding my colon unexpectedly. I did SO good for almost the entire month and am exploding here at the end of the month. Just picked up a SSBS Buzz in person locally for a killer price $150. That one has been on my GAS list for a while and it seems like SSBS isn't making new stuff anymore? Still need to find a fuck/heck.

Your welcome  I am really excited to put it in its paces - that's pedal #4 for me this month and its almost all dirt

I dropped my DE off at 12th fret and it looks like the push pull pot stem is either broken or cracked ( some how broke in shipping) but a small copper cap is going to make a good tempoary fix when I bring it back in to drop what ever pick up I decide on getting. ( just have to wait for Sasha to make some)

I also busted through 2 high E strings in less than a month so they are going to look at the Trapeze and bridge to do some fine adjustments. I think after its set up I am not going to upgrade the tuners on Ray's recommendation, I will just have to adjust how I tune and then go from there.

So if your curious to what I think about the guitar is that I am still love it, despite having some issues for a 1k+ instrument. The body, fretwork, over all voicing and feel of the guitar are just too damn good. It actually makes me more lusty over some of the USA made versions of the same thing.
