Now I just have to find my old univox... and see if it actually still works... this tape was super cheap so I thought is was worth it since the price of Univox EchoChamber EC-80As are on a rise... even broken ones...
that looks like more fun than a gang of raccoons invading a brewpub.

it struck me the other night that another reason why Fender decided to unload Guild was--according to people with some inside knowledge of FMIC--that Fender really didn't know how to deal with the acoustic Guild lines which were the lion's share of the business. FMIC had never really done acoustic guitars at anything other than a fun-day-at-the-beach level. it's entirely outside their knowledge base and skill set. building high-quality acoustics is a whole different level of thing to contracting with Terada to manufacture Gretsches at their pre-existing facility in Japan; building a commercial-level archtop with trestle bracing and a pressed maple top is much easier than building a 12-string acoustic that won't explode when you tune it to concert pitch. upon some digging i found that FMIC bought Guild in 1995, and first moved production from the established Guild shop in Rhode Island to their Corona, CA electric guitar plant, and then to the former Tacoma Guitars plant in (wait for it) Tacoma, WA. but wait, there's more! when FMIC bought Kaman in 2008 they took over the Kaman facility in Connecticut and remixed as a high-end acoustic brand. that's four plants in ten years. it was all kind of a giant clusterfuck. the electrics were a really neat sidelight, but flattops were and are where their money lies.

Jazzmaster talk re-routes to either the Dub's Wacky Project Guitars discussion or to a separate one where we might discuss the mysteries of the Mustang bridge and what-not.

An EHX Mainframe is headed my way as of this morning. Sweetwater presently has them in stock. I'll post more details once it arrives.

Lots of detail on what happened to Guild under FMIC.

Got the Fabrikat today and the only thing i did so far is use the tape head patch and setting it up for flanger sounds.
Fun times ahead.
