Got a PO-33 and a Pedaltrain Nano+ from my family for Christmas. Now I am sampling everything and completely rethinking my pedalboards

Always wanted one of those Nano boards just to see what kind of board i'd do if i was forced to cut everything down to the essential.
Also, not really incoming yet, but i'm on the list to receive one of the Polarbear effects Youg Hearts delay from the first batch (
https://www.instagram.com/p/B6d4yPlHCkX), it's a PT2399 based delay with
A LOT of largely tweakable feedback and modulation options on the secondary footswitch. Gonna use it for momentary delay madness/glitchness/oscillation incursions. Will write a proper review once i get it.

The plan was to use it as my bass board since that is basically already down to the essentials. But the essentials include a V1 Dispatch Master (side jacks) and a Black Finger (annoying power supply and is huge). So the Nano+ is just a little too small. I'm going to have to weigh some options

Cello hath landed
IMGP2214.jpg
Thing is sick! Sound is wonderful and clear, the frets don't make it sound un-cello-like, although slurs have a more ICM sound than a ECM sound

The low F is such a nice idea, it settles into your playing very fast, although I am not super keen on only having 2 string options [D'Addario and Super sensitive].. I would like a higher tension string.. I am thinking a 1/4 bass A string could work... maybe... And yes it sounds good with fuzz, and YES when you run it through a big guitar amp it dooms. Also, the piz setting is great, so many world instrument type sounds, and, turn on a chorus and you can cop jazz-guitar-nerd tonez. Rating:

[it looses a point for some finish imperfections]

Looks pretty cool! I've never tried an electric upright or cello (am double bass player) how do they compare to acoustic instruments for feel? Obviously the sound is different but I'm intrigued what they're like to play with the different body shapes. And frets! Super weird

Yes, it is very different not having the body against you, they make things you can add to them to feel more "real" but it's like going from a martin acoustic guitar to a steinberger.. which makes sense as NS stands for Ned Steinberger

... The only time I personally don't like it is when playing with a loud band where you start plucking hard.. even the heavy stands bounce around and I have to keep my foot on the back leg.. I keep meaning to come up with a way to bolt a extra foot on the back leg ike a "T"... but they are a true electric string instrument vs a travel solution, there are other builders that shoot for a more acoustic feeling instrument

Ah yeah that makes sense. The 'feel' thing is what I always imagined being an issue despite never having actually tried one. Don't think I would be into that, which is essentially why I have a fretless electric bass guitar rather than an electric upright.
But I'm sure they're great instruments for the purpose they're for. I might consider one if I had to gig all over the place on double bass every week!

Yeah the frets thing is both really cool and really weird, I'd never have them on my double bass, but for the cello it kind'a does a few things for me: one, I've always wanted a gamba and I could tune this like a 5 string gamba, two: I don't practice cello very much and only pull one out to record so I have to cram to get my intonation back every time

AND I have a upcoming project I am doing where I am going to have to be the string section by layering overdubs uncomplaining piano, AND three, lets me do more weird things

Well, not in the post because it's not been made. But in 2-4 weeks it will be!
